Sims 3 Ambitions: Won't start. [SOLVED]

Ok here is my problem. hopefully it wasn't answered somewhere else and i just didn't see it.

I bought The Sims 3 at the store. i downloaded it. i played it. i got frustrated with it. i said " HEY let's try HELS and Ambitions"...i downloaded both of those from you guys. i followed all the instructions that i was given. i try to play...

There was an error during startup...

so am i clicking the wrong thing to start playing? should i be clicking on the sims 3 instead of ambitions?

Thank you for the help you can provide...

Side Note: last night (before i downloaded HELS and Ambitions) my Sims 3 was updated as far as it could go.

It doesn't matter what you click, you'll get into the same game.
What exactly is the problem? Do you get an error?

I just says There was an error during startup. please see log for details.

that's all it tells me...

I read that it didn't matter that i had a retail version of sims 3 to get the rest to work...so i'm going to be mad if i need a torrent when i payed for the game..

do i need world adventures to? will that help it to work?

Hello,

When you use a retail version of The Sims 3, you can Install all the other expansions without any problems. When Installing WA, just be sure you skip the steps where you have to apply the updates from "Crack 3". That's all.

but do i need to install WA? i mean cuz if i don't have to to have HELS and Ambitions then i won't...

WA and HELS are optional, but Ambitions is a must if you Install one of those expansions, otherwise the launcher won't work.

well that's fine then...so for clarifications...i DO NOT need WA to be able to play HELS and Ambitions correct?

but that still doesn't answer my question that i can't play the game...the error during start up...what do i need to try to do to fix that?

and then it shuts itself down....

i'm uninstalling and reinstalling everything..so hopefully that works...

if it does i'll post it that it did...

I'm guessing it never worked then... and that the admin never came back...

I'm having the same problem. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled, and I've also uninstalled, restarted and reinstalled, but neither have worked. I;m still getting the message saying "There was an error during startup. Please see the Log for more details."

I think I helped silverktty23, but he/she never replied back to this Forum.
When exactly do you get the error and with which Game / Expansion?

Whenever I click on the icon in the start menu, or even if I go into the folder to start it from there, the launcher starts, but everything is greyed out and I get that message. As soon as I click OK the launcher closes.
I've got your Ambitions installed with your World Adventures on a retail copy of the base game.

Did you open the .rar file you Downloaded, using WinRar, which can be Downloaded from www.games4theworld.org ?

That...could be it. *nervous grin* I swear that wasn't in the instructions...
Well, I'll go try it, and get back to you.

*shrugs* I really can't be bothered installing all the expansions again now that my base game has been reinstalled. I think I'll just go out and buy the expansions.

Yes, .rar files should álways be opened using WinRar. If you use any other software, the files will get messed up.

Installing the Expansions shouldn't take a lot of time. If you have any problems, feel free to post on this Forum, so we can guide you.

Oh, no, I've opened the .rar using Winrar. I wouldn't use anything else, that'd be silly. I thought you were talking about the strange other .rar file which is inside the .rar I got from you guys which looks to be only half-formed seeing as it has an empty '# crack' folder in it and such.

Ok, I can't follow this any more. If you open the .rar file using WinRar, you'll see a folder in there called "# Crack". The Crack(s) should be in there.
Be sure that you Downloaded an official ® Games4theworld release from: www.games4theworld.org or www.thepiratebay.org/user/games4theworld

Yeah, I got that, and all the stuff is in there. BUT inside that .rar, there's one called "World Adventures Expansion Pack" or something like that and if you extract that there's an empty '# crack' folder in there.
Anyway, Mum gave me the money to go out and buy the expansion, so that's what I'll do.

No problem, buying is always better.
The Crack thing is strange, so I think it's an error during the Download -process. You can also Download the Crack -only. But since you're going to buy the Game, this isn't necessary any more. Problem solved, I guess?
