Says I need to install Sims 3

Hello, I am new to this site and also a new Mac user. I have previously purchased and installed the Sims 3 on my computer. I tried to install Showtime from this site, but it says I need to have the Sims 3 installed. Please help!

Do you own the base game on disc, or a digital download? It's a plain Sims 3 base game, not, for example, "The Sims 3 Deluxe".

Change the file name from 'The Sims
3.app' to 'The Sims3.app'
Then try installing the EP/SP.
It worked for me.

Ok then it should work lets see. Please download and use this manual patch for Mac, even if you're already at that patch level, and then try to install the expansion again.

Ok so I tried the patch, but whenever I try to install it, it says "You cannot apply this patch on this version of the application. Please re-install"
