A Sims 3 Pets Problem(I can't start a new game!)

So I downloaded and went through the steps in the readme file for the sims 3 pets, and everything went well! I was able to start up the game at the first try. Unfortunately, that's where my luck ended, as I clicked to start a new game, it acknowledged it w/ an obligatory 'click!' sound, but nothing moved. I could click it over and over again, each time hearing 'click', but it doesn't start a new game.

I can't try to start it with any game I already had b/c i had no families to try it with..and before I put in the file I made sure everything was updated, so I know that's not the problem..

If you have any advice I would be very much appreciative! Thank you!
