Quick Question on Life cycle for sims?
So, I've gotten to the stage of my town where Sims are beginning to get old and starting to die. I have had jobs for the Ghost Hunting profession where I have had to banish ghosts, and families are no longer living at the home I'm scanning or searching.
MY main family I used the the potion of life/freeze [whatever it's called] to keep them as an adult and have begun playing the children, as I wanted to keep the start of the generation alive to see how it would pan out. So they will stay alive unless, an accident happens etc.
I'm wondering to whether the game handles 'new' Sims being implemented into houses and keeps the cycle going or will I have to keep creating and randomizing families to play alongside my family/families as they expand as well? I would have assumed that new families would be generated and move in to keep the game flowing, however I'm not seeing it?
Should I begin the creation of new families or will the game do this for me?

Hello,
You shouldn't have to, The story progression is supposed to have the other sims develop their careers, find a mate and start a family. In reality it unfortunately doesn't quite work like that. I gave up on EA's idea of story progression long ago. It just annoyed me terribly that my sims' friends were emigrating randomly and other sims in town rather adopt a baby (with horrid traits) than get married and start a family.
Fortunately there is something that you can do about it. There are mods to let you control the way the town progresses. My personal favourite is this one. It lets you control and randomize every aspects of their lives, though you don't really have to do anything to get it started, just placing this package in the mods folder is enough. But you can change a variety of things, make sure to read the mods' documentation. It looks complicated and it can be but you will get used to it. I've been using this mod for 2 years now and wouldn't go without it anymore. The creator has more mods that could be interesting.
You can also get Awesomemod. I would only recommend it for the high(er) end pc. This mod does more than storyprogression alone. I don't know too much about it, I'm on a low-end pc and I'm pretty sure it won't handle the mod well. If you want to know more about this mod, there's information on the forum I linked you to, as well as a downloadlink.

Re: Quick Question on Life cycle for sims?
Hey,
Thanks for the reply, Just had a quick look through both of the linked mods/hacks and both look quite interesting, with awesomemod confusing the hell outta me at first sight. Think I might give a NRAAS StoryProgression a shot as I know a little about how it works already and seems I only need story progression to work properly.
I was starting to worry as my now somewhat empty Sunset Valley has around 10 families left with A LOT of empty households. I know supernatural has just kicked in but I wasn't after a ghost town!

Hello,
Yes you do only need the story progression base mod to control the population.
I barely remember what it was like playing without this mod to be honest, I do remember the adoptions by some sims.
