Problems Mediafire Account Downloads Empty Problems Mediafire Account Downloads

Post by Guest Thu 11 Oct 2012, 22:37

Hello,

Today i have downloaded some sims store stuff from the mediafire account from this website on my PC.
But when I clicked to download the "CarPrius" stuff I got an Trojan Horse virus on my PC.

I just wanted to let you guys know that there are virusses in those downloads and that It shows a "Police warning for cybercrime" and that I have to pay 100 euros to get rid of the warning.
Obviously I won't pay 100 euros because its a virus called "Police virus"
I find this very disturbing that I just wanted to download some stuff from the mediafire account and I received a virus.

Solving the virus was really difficult, and to remove it was more difficult, now I downloaded some stuff again from the mediafire account, and again i have the virus.
This while I have my AVG protector active and all my virusscanners also.

Greetings

Hello,

Lol, there are different things that could be causing this, but it's definitely NOT the download(s), since those are ALL scanned and tested, one by one.

The first problem could be that you downloaded it from another source, other than our MediaFire account. Maybe you mistake it for our MediaFire account.

The second thing, which I think is your problem, is that you already had a virus on your PC. The symptoms you're explaining remind me of those "fake" antiviruses which claim to be from the police or something and ask you to pay money in order to "release" your PC. These are fake!

Besides, all The Sims 3 Store Updates and stuff on our MediaFire downloads are in .Sims3Pack format, which can't possibly include a virus like that.

No. I'm pretty sure it was your mediafire account.
It could be the advertisements that mediafire shows, al though i dont click on them.

But the virus came when I definitely clicked on the CarPrius sims3pack file. I havent even installed the CarPrius sims3pack .

When i removed the virus, i went back on the mediafire account with all the sims store set files, and again i downloaded the carprius sims3pack but didnt installed it, and again AVG showed me the Trojan Horse and then i got the "police warning".
It is really coincidental that the two times i clicked on that file, avg said it detected a trojan horse, referring to the sims file i just downloaded from your mediafire account..

I downloaded it from this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?8hvd25izaiea4

Correct me if it is not your account, but Im pretty sure it is,
It was in the Store Updates 2012 > Store Update 39 > carPriusCSet.Sims3pack.

I'm really sure I got the virus from exactly that file.

I scanned my copy with MSE/MBAM, and then re-downloaded it, and scanned it with both again, and none of the times it detected as a error.

It could be a issue with AVG scanning, since Anti-Virus and other scanners can have errors with detecting wrong files.

But it seems awkward that you did manage to download it twice and had issues both times, and EVERYONE else who has downloaded it, haven't had a problem, or haven't reported a problem, and figure if someone who finds out how to download from the mediafire is capable enough of making a account on here to report that.

So have you made sure AVG is up to date, if you still have it download, right-click it and scan with AVG.

It's highly unlikely it's from G4TW Mediafire account tho.

Hello,

I'll have to second that, this is the first time we hear about this. I just recently got a bunch of stuff from the mediafire account and found nothing unusual. I redownloaded that exact file and got nothing.
This virus does activate randomly, so it's not as if you click on something online and this pops up immediately.
I think you may not have properly removed the trojan or it was reactivated from the original host file.
Again it is not possible to include a virus in a sims3pack, it is difficult enough as it is to create a sims3pack, let alone add something to an existing pack, to the files definitely don't contain virusses, trojans or other add/spy/malware.
You can read more about this particular virus here.

I have fixed the virus again, it was the second time I got that virus after clicking exactly that file. It may be the advertisements of mediafire, or something else, I don't know.
I just wanted to let you guys know and attend you on it that i gained the same virus 2 times from 1 file.
But I will try to update my AVG virus scanner so that if this may occur again, al though the virus might not be in the sims3pack, I can prevent it from the virus.
I also read that the police warning can pop up everywhere without clicking on it.

Thanks anyway for the answers. I was afraid that if i may download again from that mediafire account I would be having the possibility of gaining a virus again, but I guess it is just randomly, twice, bad luck. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello,

No problem, we're here to guide you with this kind of problems. But rest assured it's definitely not the downloads themselves. Yes, it can be one of the advertisements. If you're using Mozilla Firefox or Chrome, I really recommend using the add-on called "AdBlock Plus" to block all kind of advertisement!
There is a possibility that you clicked on a fake "Download now" or "Click here to download" (something like that) button. This is just a fake advertisement that suggests you're downloading the actual .Sims3Pack file. In fact you're downloading a whole different file though.

And just to prove that it's not the .Sims3Pack file itself, I (re-)uploaded the file for you here: www.games4theworld.org/temp544362543/carPriusCSet.Sims3Pack

That link will be inactive again within 3 days, so please let us know the result.
