Downloading sims3pack trouble

Everytime i download a sims3pack for thesims3.com, i get an error saying download failed. make sure u have the latest patch. HELP!

Instead of downloading them with the game launcher, you should see a link that says "save file" below the "download to game" link, click on it instead and save the download to a place you will remember like the desktop or to the downloads folder (my documents/electronic arts/the sims 3/downloads)

I save them to my desktop but i get the error message when installing them.

A lot of the downloads from thesims3.com are recolors and such which need the base item in order to work, so if you dont have that base item installed in your game you will get that error. (i.e. a rose colored version of the sani-toilet will only work if you have the actual sani-toilet installed in your game)

It mainly happens when I try to download custom sims

If you want good custom Sims try HERE and HERE. Sims from the Sims 3 exchange tend to be weird by either not installing or by installing and breaking the game. TSR and MTS, the two links above, usually have very good sims to download. Just be sure to read the comments on them to see if you need/want any of the extra CC/mods that sometimes are used to make them.
