Mass Effect "General Protection Fault!" Empty Mass Effect "General Protection Fault!"

Post by Guest Thu 24 Mar 2011, 16:37

I downloaded and installed the game from TPB and even applied the map fix. However, when I try to run the game the screen goes black and stays that way. When I look "behind" the game (on the desktop), I get the following message:

General Protection Fault!

History: Address=0x10bb5676 (filename not found) [in C:\Games\Mass
Effect\Binaries\MassEffect.exe]
Address=0x15f93ee4 (filename not found)

Every time I attempt to open the game, the "Address" (in this case, 0x15f93ee4) is slightly different each time. I'm assuming the problem is a missing file or a file in the wrong directory or folder but if I'm wrong please tell me. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Strange, try the following:

1. Uninstall the game completely.
2. Restart your PC.
3. Do the following:

Please open the .rar file you downloaded using only WinRar, which can be downloaded from www.games4theworld.org . (If you use any other software than WinRar, like WinZip or 7-zip, the files will get messed up!)
When you've opened the file using WinRar, select áll the files in it and drag & drop them to a folder on your Desktop. When the extraction is done, close the .rar file and open the folder on your Desktop.
Now, start by reading the included "# Installation Guide.txt" and you should be able to get the game to work yourself.

4. See if it works now.
