Sims crashing issue

Ok, so I have all of the expansions installed. I have followed all of the directions exactly. The game runs fine...until I try to build. When I go to build, if I try to save after building on a lot, the game crashes and Windows says it stopped working. Any ideas how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
