Youtuber taking credit for G4TW sims torrent.

First of all I just want to say I loooove gftw. Y'all do so much for the people I have so much respect for y'all. As usual I downloaded seasons day if release from y'all BC well that's how I roll. So I'm on youtube looking up all the features of seasons and I stumble upon karmatastic.
How to download seasons for free. I think oh how cool I click on the video. Besides a tutorial showing how to install which I had no problem with. I see her use her own ad fly to tell others to download it. Reading the description there is no mention of gftw. But it clearly is she shows the read me.txt that still says games4theworld. She completely bypassed games4theworld website and links g4tw torrent. I go down the comments and its 400 plus ppl stating thank you I knew you would pull through.
And one even wrote these are karmatastics torrents. By that point I was heated. I cussed them all out. Sorry I was mad. She had 17000 subscribers she's profiting off of g4tw torrents. Ugh im still mad!!

Hello and welcome to the Forum @Urstruly,
It's nothing new, these things have been around since the days of the old Admin (while the main content of the G4TW Forum was still those TS3 DLC). What must be noted is that there is no "copyright" on pirated items. Notwithstanding personal or political feelings, this is a very crucial thing to note. These items are not "our" releases either, even though we may have released it earlier than this particular YouTuber.
Again, this is very important to note, and to my surprise it is something that needs to be explained (in certain cases) even to experienced users.
That being said, we have ben putting notices in bold red, under certain topics on the Forum here. Stating that we do not use YouTube to announce releases. We also have a related notice in our Forum FAQ here, under I. "I have seen Games4theworld-related news on [insert platform name here]".
As far as I am personally concerned, I do not care what other platforms write. Be it various non-G4TW-related Forums, blogs, YouTube channels, subreddits or discord-channels. I really don't care. It doesn't make much sense either in my opinion, if we "called out" people copying these G4TW releases. On occasion it may be fun: I myself have called out other entities in the piracy-world for doing or saying idiotic things (not related to copying torrents, but other things). And no, I did not censor any screenshots, see for example this comment here. The problem is, if we start doing this all the time it will look strange, and it may deter friendly users as well. You have to think of this in terms of "risk vs. reward": what do we gain out of bashing all the time at the idiocies of other users on the internet, versus the disadvantages. A very difficult question, and at the moment I personally find we should generally refrain from calling out others.
In a way I'd also like to compare these comments to the complaints of (mostly younger) YouTube-users who write angry comments like "you have started a Let's play-series that [insert favorite YouTuber here] started earlier already". Again, there may be a moral point in it, but that's about it.

I have to agree with @The_gh0stm4n , as long as someone leaves our credits intact I have no problem with them "sharing" our "releases" in their venue. For one it keeps our good name out there and, as Oscar Wilde points out, they're offering us true flattery by trying to imitate who/what we are.

I agree with The_gh0stm4n as well, even though I find it aggravating.
But... I also imagine we're getting some traffic through these video's. Some of their viewers are bound to be smart enough to realise that it will be faster to find the source of the downloads, and download them directly.

What I usually do in such cases:
Change the link to the download and on my own site I overwrite the existing link with the new one.
So "my visitors" don't even notice it and the youtubers get a 404-page not found.
(I admit that this method can only be used for direct downloads and not for torrents)

So I looked at the channel-page of said YouTuber, because despite what I said above I tend to be judgmental, even though in the end I may keep these thoughts to myself.
There is usually short gameplay, mostly of Sims games. And then these "How to install [insert game name] for free". There are quite a lot of these, not just about Sims games.
What I always used to be baffled is how channels receive a strike. The G4TW channel was taken down very quickly, I remember. I think it also has to do with the overall type of content in a channel, so a mixture of harmless Sims 4 gameplay plus a few piracy-related videos is not necessarily going to attract a lot of heat. But if your only content is these instruction videos, and your channel is connected to a Forum like G4TW, it will attract more attention.
So much attention that eventually the copyright holder (or one of their hired hands) contacts YouTube directly. And of course: it usually makes a difference as well whether an average Joe/Jane reports a video, or someone with a more "powerful" backing, in whatever form that is.

) I think that I have to agree with Ann, that we get tons of traffic flow if anybody mentions our work here, so it is good for the brand and it's good for the growth of this community. How many of you discovered Games4TheWorld because you saw something on another source like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or even a simple Google Search?
Piracy is a very gray area, we are not pirates, we just show people what is around and, even though I own the games, I really tell everybody that we have the right to take the power and control of our software back! DRM is too noisy, forced updates can break features and make you spend unnecessary money on bandwidth and sometimes we just want to be able to move our files from one machine to another without hassle.
If people are going to use our educational content for reasons that may be morally questionable it's not our responsibility.
Look at the quality of the user support you find on this forum and compare it with what you find on regular official manufacturer's ones! Besides the quicker response times, the quality of the information is MUCH better, the work here is user oriented and not some clueless person pasting dumb pre-made replies that sometimes have no relation to the problem pointed by the user.
Now, what's fair use? I believe that if you mention the source (and sometimes even points towards it, being that something actually nice) you are actually providing them with a service.
Microsoft became one of the largest companies in the world thanks to the way their software was (is) easily copy-able. Some people will use that to save time, in large companies who use Volume Licenses, others will use their software without paying for it because they can't afford it, but then, everybody got used to MS-DOS and MS-Windows because it was readily available!
There was a time when you had to pay to have a "good" internet browser or an anti virus program...
Now, go to any app store (Android, Apple now even Windows Store) and look at how many FREE software is laying around, sometimes multiple apps that do the very same thing!
Sometimes being known is much more valuable than being greedy and not letting people try or share before they buy it.

So there is nothing wrong. The Donation-buttons are optional, and there is no disadvantage for those who don't donate. Conversely, those who donate should not expect "special treatment" either.
The old Admin used to have Donations as well I believe, but he turned them off due to "limited success". And he also allowed Sim Architect back then to advertise his things.

Like I said earlier: conversely, those who donate should not expect "special treatment" either. And if one day someone else takes over the platform, and makes something completely different out of it, we all will have to move on. Also, are we still talking about non-related YouTubers using G4TW-repacks, or something completely different? Can I ask everybody to stay on-topic?
As a sidenote I've also disabled the ability to report Forum messages, so in case of future 'issues' people can address their concerns in private via e-mail, to the Moderators, me, or Ann.
