Crashing since Supernatural on XP.[SOLVED]
Hi there,
Yesterday the game worked perfectly fine. Today I installed Supernatural and I also resolved -thanks to this website- that I couldn't start it in the beginning(ultimate fix crack helped). But even after that it crashed immediatly when I clicked on "new game". So I put the graphics settings to low, deleted all custom stuff and even all save games (I'm not nostalgic) and followed the instructions that I could. Now when I click "New game" it shows the loading screen but after a short while it crashes.
But I have Windows XP so I would've liked to try those things regarding DEP but just couldn't find it. My control panel for my NVIDIA card doesn't want to open and when I want to update it, it can't find a current driver for my Card (gtx 260). I use a RIVA-Tuner to manually set the fans higher, which I've done only when playing Sims and which worked till yesterday (else it would get too hot and end the game 30 minutes in).
So, before Supernatural I had installed: Pets, world Adventures, Late Night, Fast Lane, Ambitions, generations, garden accessoires. I'm currently loading Monte Vista and 70/80/90-Accessoires and hope the problem magically disappears after installing those. Alas, I doubt it.
Any more tips or tricks? Appreciate it!

Hello,
GTX 260? I have the same card here, superclocked edition. Anyhow, in case you like to update (which I recommend, apart from your problem): http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/55229 (Windows XP, 32-bit)
Tried backing up and removing this folder completely(?): Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
If yes, and it didn't work, please try GameBooster: http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html
Also be sure to install the new expansion pack(s) following these instructions:https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
DO NOT skip any steps and re-download the manual patch and the Ultimate Fix.
Note that you may skip all "# Crack" folder, as specified on that page.
Good luck and please let us know the result!

Re: Crashing since Supernatural on XP.[SOLVED]
No luck. It loads faster, but crashes when the loading bar is at 1/10, same as before. So, now it crashes actually faster. I just try again after I installed Monte Vista tomorrow and then again after I installed 70/80/90-stuff. If all hell breaks loose and it doesn't function after those I just will update my PC to Win7 and reinstall everything.
Edit, related question: Is there a topic somewhere about how to adjust the gamebooster?
Edit2: I uninstalled Supernatural and then reinstalled it -> Now it works fine!
Thanks!

Hello,
Good to hear.
Don't hesitate to post if you have questions or problems again.
Happy simming topic closed.
Note: For future reference, if you want to add anything to the DEP in XP, do as follows:
In your start menu, rightclick on "My Computer" and go to "Properties".
Go to the "Advanced" tab and click on "Performance: settings" (the one on top).
Now go to the 3rd tab "Data Execution Prevention" to add the exe's to the list.
Apply and OK and you're done.
