Problems with updating Sims 3

Hello!
I have big problems with updating my sims 3 game. I have bought the world adventures expansion and base game, but the rest is downloaded from your site. First, I tried updating my game via the launcher, but got the "invalid file" message. After that, I downloaded and re-applied the ultimate fix, downloaded the manual update but I got the message that "the installed version of the application could not be terminated". Please help me!

Did you make sure that the sims was COMPLETELY closed out before trying to update? Checking that the launcher isn't down in the icons area down by your clock, and everything? (How I do this is open up task manager, find the sims, and stop the process, but only for the sims.)
