Sims 3 freezes/quits in CAS

Hi there.

I've been downloading from G4TW for about two years now, and I have pretty much everything for PC.

However, I obtained a Mac. I was able to figure out what to do to install everything correctly, and now I don't get any errors.

But when I'm in CAS (Create-a-Sim), I'll be in the middle of making a Sim and the game will either freeze or crash. It doesn't let me get past CAS, which is frustrating. I have to keep creating all over again. Since I JUST installed everything, I have no saved games either.

Something I noticed: just before it freezes, the sim I'm creating will look glitchy. Like, you'll see the silhouette of the Sim, but that's it. No colors, features, or anything to distinguish it. Sometimes it'll let me continue changing features or clothes of that Sim, but I still won't be able to see what I choose on my Sim. Just the silhouette.

I never had these problems with my PC. I'd rather run The Sims 3 on my Mac though, because it isn't as slow as my PC.

What do I do?

Macs are more sensitive about mods and CCs than PC. Do you have any in your game?

i have the same problems - with NO mods or custom content - been having the issue for a while, re-installed everything 4 times - still persisting

That's how I fixed it, I'm not sure it works maybe I just got lucky:

- apply the Ultimate Fix
- apply the manual patch
- apply the Ultimate Fix crack
- apply the manual patch once again
- apply the Ultimate Fix crack once again
- reduce your graphic settings to medium instead of high or low

I've done this (inadvertently) and it seems to be working for now, I didn't realize until you mentioned it
So this might be the answer (applying manual patch and crack files TWICE)
I think the setting just CANNOT be high on the macs, unless you upgrade

Its because MAC runs TS3 in cider, its basically a virtual environment running windows, which sucks up a TON of your computer power. I had 16gb of ram on my macbook pro and took out all my cc and after a couple days it started up again. I would recommend allocating a part of your hard drive to bootcamp and getting the windows torrent from here. Its really simple to do and the sims runs beautifully in its native OS with the amazing mac hardware.
