Seasons & University Problem: Base Game Required to install EP's

Hi,

1st off, thanks a bunch guys and gals, I wish I stumbled across this place sooner..

However as above I am getting an error message when running the Sims3EP09Setup (University) and Sims3EP08Setup (Seasons), telling me that the base game is required before installing these expansion packs..

Now I know there are a lot of silly people out there, so let me just say that I do have the base game installed..

However I purchased the game and many of the other expansion packs via steam. Could this be the issue? The installer not being able to locate the installation path of the base game?

I attempted to create a EA folder and cut/paste the game files from the steam location over to see if that helped out but no luck..

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Although I have Steam, I don't play often with these games anymore. But I bet that your Sims 3 games (you purchased via Steam) are in that "Steam" folder. So just copying and pasting it to the right location won't help, because in the registry the games are..yes, basically "registered" to the Steam location
I'm afraid you have to uninstall these "Steam"-Sims 3 games (unless someone has a better idea).
Do you actually have a folder or .RAR file of the Sims 3 (and the expansions)? If yes, try clicking on this "Installer.exe" and see if you can change the install location.

If not, you have to re-download the base game and the expansions, for example on "Piratebay" (if you cannot access that try "Pirateproxy.net"). Search for the Sims 3 torrents with "Games4theWorld" in the name .

With your games being installed through Steam, there is no way to add on any external expansions. There's a couple of options here though.

1. You can contact Steam support, and they will probably give you your serial so that you can download through Origin (which does accept external additions).

2. You can just download what you need from the g4tw downloads page.
