why are the older sims 3 stuff packs so big?

I was browsing through and the older stuff packs are like 4GB and the newer ones are like 1GB is there extra things in the older ones or something (:

Yes, we've found more efficient ways of reducing the size of our The Sims 3 downloads. That's why our latest releases are way smaller than other releases. They still function exactly the same as an original game copy.
