Hello Helpers,

Thank you all for your help on the Forum!
Would you like to see a little preview of the website we're working on behind the scenes?
We plan on releasing a beta very soon, so people can start downloading some of the stuff. I'll keep adding new pages, while the website is in beta.

We'd like to see what everyone thinks first.

Keep in mind that this is still work in progress, meaning the website is far from finished. But after launch, I'll be adding all the missing pages ASAP. We want some feedback on the current process first.

Ok, here's what I think:
¤ What about an icon? The one that should appear on the tab...
¤ Is it normal that width isn't fixed? On my laptop, I have to scroll horizontally. I don't know if that can be fixed...
¤ Love the "At the moment, everything is new on this website!" Wink

¤ General style of the website: smooth and clean. I like it!
¤ Navigation is nice and easy to figure out!
¤ I have the impression that titles are a little bit too much to the right...
Will try the downloads later. Very nice work anyway. It will make people happy!

Thank you for checking it out.
What icon do you mean? Oh wait, you mean the Favicon. Yes, will add one later.
Width is fixed, that's why you have to scroll. I assumed most people would have modern big(ger) screens. Might have been my mistake.
What titles do you mean? Would you mind posting a screenshot of that?

Thanks for letting us see earlier.
I've checked it our and I liked what I saw. Especially the "At the moment everthings is new on this website!" Razz

But I didn't like the page being wide and need to scroll to see the right side of it.
Besides in my opinion, the chapter titles should be in the center of the page, at least close to center. Logo takes most of the page and I think it's kind of unnecessary. But I like the color and font and style.

Please let me know if we can do anything to help (though I have no idea about web designing, lol.)

What do you all mean with "chapter titles"? Can you make a screenshot of that, please?
The width sucks, how big are you monitors? If a lot of people complain, I'll have to make it smaller.

I was talking about these titles. And yeah top logo.. I mean the titles should draw more attention and should be close to center of the page? It's my opinion of course.
Adn yeah my Macbook is little 13", Macbook Air Smile

So if the width is cool with everyone with bigger screen, it'd be fine with me.

Hmm... If I put those in the middle, there would be less space for other stuff. Or you mean at the top of the page?

Top of the page can be a good choice, and still there can be lots of space to put other things, informations, logo etc.

But still it isn't that bad now. I think it looked like as if the titles were so tiny next to logo to me, as I can't see the whole page without scrolling. But now, I adjusted the page layout with Chrome and it should be fine now.

So, no more replies. What should I do? Just upload the website and see what people say? If a lot of people complain about the horizontal size, I can always make it smaller.

Sorry for late reply, only just spotted this topic

Anyway for me the width of the page is a issue, I'm sure it would be a issue for many of our members as we like things crisp and able to just scroll down and not across

I think if you can fix that we are on a winner

I had tried going to it a few days ago, but it told me the link was dead. Now that I see it, the width definitely seems to be odd. To me, it looks as if it were designed around wide-screen computers, not a regular screen. Other than that, everything seems to be working nicely Smile

Looks great on a WS monitor, but I can see where it would be side-scroll fun for anybody with a standard monitor. Here are a few of my suggestions.

Decrease the font size to prevent chopping (i.e. Under the Neighborhoods download area the paragraph about the worlds being in rar format and using winRAR is chopped off).

Center the G4TW greeting under the main banner on the home page.

Other than that, the site is looking really nice.

Not exactly sure what you mean there, can you please post a screenshot of that? If you mean it's too much to the end of the page, it's because that's the page I'm currently working on. Wait, let me update the preview, click the link again/refresh the page in about 15 minutes.
As for the greeting text, I assume the logo is cut off too. If it is, then what's the use of centring the welcome text? (As it'll be cut off too)

But don't worry about the size, if you guys can give me a resolution, I can optimize the pages. 22" monitor resolution?

Nice!
It looks like the page will be pretty long though, so what I suggest it to create hyperlinks on top, that link to the proper section of the world below. And a "Back to top" button at the end of each section.
Or, make the sections collapsable like Wikipedia.
If you need help, I can help you with those...

One thing I find a bit interesting is the legal notice at the bottom of the start page:

While I'm not an expert in this area of law, I suppose you are obliged (by law and/or your webhost) to put up such a notice ? Or does this notice only have "practical functions" (i.e. to prevent people from contacting Games4TheWorld in matters which "belong" to EA) ?

I'm asking this because it does create an entertaining effect, in my opinion, to provide download links for pirated stuff and at the same time write a notice saying "Game content and materials copyright EA". Laughing

Or was that really just meant humorously ? But then, this is not a big issue for me.

I've briefly checked the spelling, and everything seems OK, but for one small thing maybe: "Maffia 2"---> the correct spelling in Italian and English (I'm not sure about other languages though) would be "Mafia" with one "f". Or did you deliberately misspell it ? (maybe for some practical reasons I can't think of right now ?). But that's again a small issue.

Here is what I was talking about with font size:

You can probably take the font size down by 2 and still have it large enough to read comfortably. My screen res is 1600x900 and I can read the page from across the room without my glasses, which I like by the way, so decreasing the font by 2 should let all the sentences fit nicely. I would also center the fixed width text like the title "Neighborhoods", the pictures, item names and DL links as it would give the page a nice structured look IMO. Smile
