Game crashing after update 1.55 and Island Paradise.

Hi there.

I recently downloaded the new 1.55 patch, the new fix, and Island Paradise. Since I downloaded the patch and Island Paradise, my game crashes less than 5 minutes into playing it. I have downloaded and applied the new fix at least twice but it hasn't helped. What else can I do?

Do you have cc and mods? If you've tried playing with out cc and mods and you've tried updating your graphic card go into your sims 3 saved games and try moving those out of the sims 3 folder.

I have some CC but no mods. So do you mean I should put them on my desktop and try to play again?

Yes just move them see if that works. When does it crash? and what error message do you get?

Just to note, make sure if you use any mods to update them, NRASS for example has updated the mods since IP was released

Should I move everything in the game/bin folder or just certain files? I'm totally new to this kind of stuff so I'm not sure. The error message I get says: "A problem has caused the game to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I deleted all of my CC already. I don't think I have any mods, but then again, I'm not really sure what those are. I've downloaded some stuff from the sims store and some CC (which I no longer have), but that's it.

Hello,

In Windows, go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/ and rename the folder "The Sims 3", for example like this here "The Sims 3_backup".

Start up the game, and for now make a completely fresh savegame. See if this helps.

Mods are usually files in the ".package" file format.

So I've just done what you said, but it completely erased any saved families I have. Is there anyway to play with my saved games? So far, it hasn't crashed but I'll see if it crashes soon.

Go into your renamed folder, then copy the folder "Saves". Then you paste this into your newly created "The Sims 3" folder.

You mean take everything in my saved folder and paste it into the backup folder I just put on my desktop? I did that but my families still aren't showing up. It did fix the crashing for now, though.

Go to your renamed folder, wherever it may be.

Now you go inside it and copy the WHOLE "Saves" sub-folder.

You now go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 (if you don't have such a NEW "The Sims 3" folder - then start the game, make a temporary new savegame, let it load until finished, then just exit the whole game).

Inside "The Sims 3", you paste the copied folder, and select "Replace all/everything".

And that should be it.

OK, we're making some small progress, good.

In which neighbourhoods did you save the families ? If you had any "downloadable worlds" (like Hidden Springs, Lucky Palms, Lunar Lakes, Aurora skies, Barnacle Bay, Monte Vista, Riverview, Sunlit Tides or Dragon Valley), then you have to re-install these worlds first.

If you don't have the ".sims3pack" files of these worlds anymore, then I suggest you either wait a bit for me (because I'm leaving again), or you wait for another "Helper", to help you put back in your old stuff from the renamed folder.

It seems that the only families that don't show up are from the downloadable words, yes. I'll wait. Thanks so much for your help so far!

So I managed to fix it! I just went into the new file I created, clicked on the worlds, and they downloaded again on their own! Thanks again for your help!
