Sims University life not detected

My sims 3 cannot detect the installation of university life. I tried playing the game but the features that come with university life are not available. So I installed a so called "complete" sims 3 game only to find university life was not apart of the package but i was able to download it separately and install it. I am able to play sims 3 but not university life specifically.

in the picture it shows you that i do have university life but in the launcher at the bottom right it does not indicate it being installed.

Also:
is it normal to see the sims 3 showtime launch pop up/ load screen regardless of which sims expansion i click?

I have the same problem, but I read in one of the stickies at the top of the page that they're working on the problem. The sims will always start up in the latest expansion that you have. I have found the expansions up untill Seasons are detected but everything later than that is not detected.
