How much expansions packs this PC can handle? Empty How much expansions packs this PC can handle?

Post by Guest Mon 22 Jul 2013, 20:19

I have this PC for a while and runs very well Sims 3 + some expansion packs. But I want to know how much expansion packs can handle because I want to install Island Paradise.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
CPU: IntelPentium Dual-Core G620, 3MB BOX 32nm, 2.60GHz
RAM: DDR3 4GB
GPU: AMD Radeon 6670 1GB/DDR5/DVI/HDMI/DP/bulk/128bit

Now I run except Base game: Generations, Seasons and University Life and it runs very good.

Hello,

My desktop computer has a similar performance (except that my Windows 7 has 64-bit and my GPU 2GB), and I have all expansions installed + all store items. And I don't have any problems playing that game (I never had any problems in the past either).

Your graphics card should be more than capable of handling the base game and all the expansions. But about the 32-bit system, there might be chances that you will (sooner or later) get the "error 12" when trying to save the game, which means you have to save very often in short intervals, and then exit the game for a while.

I would just add one expansion at a time - and see if it affects your performance. But I don't really think there should be major problems, except again, the 32-bit system maybe. Smile

Thanks Smile. I'm a little bit worried about the temperature when I play the game: CPU I GPU temperatures are around 50 Celsius and temperature of Hard Drive is around 40 Celsius. Is that OK?

When I get Error 12 or 16 I just reset all sims in town and the error is gone.

These temperatures should be OK; as long as you don't reach about 70-90 degrees Celsius, everything should be fine. Smile

One more thing maybe: if your computer starts turning itself off, then that might be a sign that something is wrong with the cooling. The computer (and the cooling fans) needs regular cleaning; if you don't know how to do that, then you might ask someone who does that stuff profesionally (computer shop, or whatever). You could also ask if there are "upgrades" for the cooling system.

As far as I'm concerned, I sometimes clean the dust, but I don't know how to change/maintain the cooling fans.

Yeah I know about that, that's how I destroyed my last PC, I didn't clean it for three years Very Happy so I learned in the hard way what I need to do. I have this computer since December so I'll see to take it to service at the end of the year because is still under warranty.
