Same old service initialization failed (0x175dcbb). [SOLVED]
Yeah, it's the same as everyone else, whenever I try to run I get this error message. The launcher: "There was an error during startup, please see the log for more information". I've been carefully reading the other threads about the problem, as well as the main *Must Read* guide. Well, after countless hours failing I'm at loss. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, as I "know" I've been doing everything right.
I have tried:
If it really is supposed to work, then there must be something wrong I'm doing somewhere, misunderstanding something along the way or so
My checklist when installing the game:
I use windows, and all files downloaded are up to date. If there is some alternative solution, like teamview or live chat, that would be awesome, if not: Help.
I have tried:
- Checking/removing custom content, renaming EA folder in documents
- Clean un-install, followed the guide linked somewhere here on the forum to the sims wiki (manual registry removal and so on)
- Following the *Must Read*, through the maunal patching and the step by step guide on the Ultimate Fix
- Slamming the keyboard really hard
If it really is supposed to work, then there must be something wrong I'm doing somewhere, misunderstanding something along the way or so
My checklist when installing the game:
- Burn the starting cd, opening up the cd1 when installer asks for it (I tried only installing the Basic game with the crack, and it worked)
- Updating using the manual patch
- Installing a game listed on MUST HAVE, usually Town Life
- Downloading, extracting the fix, then follow the instructions provided, copying and replacing in the correct folders
- Updating with manual patch again? (I've tried both doing this step and skipping it)
- Copying crack, again replacing some files in the sim3/game/bin folder
- Start game, "Service failed initialization failed (0x175dcbb)"
- Slam keyboard really hard

Please open the registry, and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Node6432\Sims.
There, see which games are listed, and delete any one that is not installed.
This should fix your game!

.... You! You fixed it. Thanks a whole bunch, wish I'd tried here before. Anyway, I tried this with town life, but to install the other expansions I just have to follow the steps from the fix right?

Glad it worked!
Yes, this is what you should do. If your OS is in English though, you can just install every expansion you want, then check your game is 1.55, then use my new tool (see this) with the latest Ultimate Fix.
