Sims 3 Launcher ..broken? [SOLVED]

Hi guys! First, let me say thank you for all you do. I and everyone else who's ever came across you guys appreciate it.  Secondly, this isn't a major problem, just annoying.
I tried to install some custom content hair thinking it'd be okay. Now, when I open the launcher, it opens like this:
When I hover over the base game icon, it says "Version 0.0.0.0"
Did this happen because of the hair? I double clicked on it, and now my launcher does this when I open it. I also tried hitting the "update now" button, but nothing happens. It's OK, but I'd like to install Barnacle Bay. I can play the game perfectly, though. I do have mods, but they've never caused this. I'd just like to have a new world and my launcher to work so I can install things. I just need to be more careful what I install haha. Anyone know what happened and how to fix it?

I was trying to find free versions of it, because it was on TS3 resource but needed a subscription. I downloaded it from http://customsims3.blogspot.com/
It seemed to work for other people, just not me. My friend recommended it to me. I also decrapified the hair and tried to install it, but like I said it won't let me install anything.

Yep, I'll try that and report back.
