Problem starting jobs Empty Problem starting jobs

Post by Guest Thu 15 Aug 2013, 16:13

I'm having problems with the Culinary career.. Everytime one of my sim's joins this career, their car pulls up outside to take them to work and they won't get in it. They won't make their own way there either, or just start work when teleported outside etc. The option just disappears and they won't do it Rolling Eyes

If you have mods, I think you may need to update them (if they're not updated).

Hello,

Try this here first: switch the carreer of your sim, then switch back again to the culinary carreer. See if this changes anything. Also, I don't know if you did that, but you should never change anything about these "carreer outfits", in CAS mode. Odds are that this will cause you problems.

I've just realised that it isn't only the culinary career that this happens with, it happens with others too, but only seems to happen with my adult females? She can have part time jobs like at the book store etc but nothing like culinary, politician etc.

Try going into "edit town mode". Save your female sims into the "bin".

Afterwards, make a new savegame (don't delete your old one yet) and put your sims in there, and play on for a while to see if the same happens.

Thank you I'll try that now, does this mean I won't be able to solve the problem with my current save game though?

Well, if you save your sim into the bin, the carreers and the skills will be saved. But your sim will lose the "relationships" and these "opportunities".

Yes, please try putting your sim into a new savegame (and into a new town) - and let me know the result.

And again, don't delete your old savegame yet, just make another, new save. Wink

Hi, I'm still having this issue if anybody could help me? I've tried various saved games, made a new town with new sims, still they won't get into their car to take them to work - nor will they make their own way there, they just will not work at all unless it's for a part time job. Sad

Hello,

Do you have mods? If you do, disable them for the moment. There might be a conflict.
Is your sim dressed in the default career outfit, or did you add other career outfits? This problem can occur if you added custom career outfits from the wardrobe or dresser.

I haven't created any custom career outfits for this particular sim, he's currently in his sleepwear - usually they automatically change into work clothes before getting into the work car? But he won't even do that. I'll try it without mods now as I do have a small amount of mods installed. Thanks

I just tried the same thing without mods and he still won't do it. He won't get into his career outfit when I tell him to either, and this time the car didn't even turn up - I heard the beep telling me it was there but couldn't actually see it.

Hello,

Can you try creating a new save? Don't test with old saves.

Hello,

Can you rename the folder C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and try creating a new save?

For the Custom Content I would recommend to download them again.
Saved games can be found in the renamed folder, you can put them back one by one and check whether it doesn't corrupt your game.

I'm not sure what you mean by put them back, from where/to where? sorry I'm pretty useless with computers lol. Also could I put my custom content back one by one to then check if any of those corrupt my game?
