Origin and G4TW. [SOLVED] Empty Origin and G4TW. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Thu 03 Oct 2013, 06:45

I was gifted the Origin starter pack which included Base Game, High End Loft Stuff and Late Night and recently purchased Supernatural. I decided that I wanted try before I buy Ambitions and University Life and was pointed here. I downloaded and carefully followed the instructions illustrated here: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly, but when I try to start the game, it just hangs on a blank black screen. I have left it alone while during chores and cooking dinner in hopes it would start up but never does. Ive noticed that G4TW installs Ambitions and University Life in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ while Origin installs into its own folder. So I am wondering if that has anything to do with my problem.

Please advise.

Note: I have installed G4TW's Midnight Hollow successfully before attempting this.

Hello,

Must Read wrote:(If you downloaded and installed your base game via Origin, the crack goes into this folder instead: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin )

The guide has mentioned something like this. Did you drag and drop the content of the folder #crack from the Ultimate Fix to the folder Origin Games\The Sims 3 instead?

Yes, of course. I carefully followed every step to the last word.

The launcher recognizes that I have the games installed with no errors but when I click the play button, all I get is black screen and a loading cursor.

Please advise.

Hello,

Even if you are sure you have followed the guide correctly, please redo steps2-4 of the guide and try again. DO NOT use any cracks that are inside of the torrents that you have downloaded from G4TW. Test the game and see if it works

If not, open C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and delete the following:
Create-a-Sim Cache: CASPartCache.package
Build/Buy mode Cache: compositorCache.package
Mod or custom content cache: scriptCache.package
New Sims and skin cache: simCompositorCache.package

SocialCache.package
Delete all files within the folder "Thumbnails". Do not delete the "Thumbnails" folder.
Delete all files within the folder "World Caches". Do not delete the "WorldCaches" folder.

One step ahead of you.

I reapplied the manual patch.
Reapplied the Ultimate Fix...

Cleared caches in the EA Documents folder and restarted.

Will try Thumbnails and WorldCaches.

If that doesn't work, rename the folder C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.

Emptied the thumbnail and world caches folder, restarted with the same results; Blank black startup screen. I am not sure what you mean by the rename when my file structure is exactly that:

C:\Users\Shanda\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

I beginning to think I might have to uninstall everything.

Go to eaxctly here: C:\Users\Shanda\Documents\Electronic Arts
Rename the folder that is called The Sims 3 inside this section. Rename it to whatever you want.

Please move the folder from C:\Users\Shanda\Documents\Electronic Arts\(name of renamed folder)\Saves to C:\Users\Shanda\Documents\Electronic Arts. Replace if necessary. This folder consists of all the saves you have.

Hey Cat! I just want to thank you for patience in help solve this problem.

After much fiddling around in the Mods (custom content) folder. I figured out what was causing the game to hang at startup. Earlier I downloaded premium content from TheSims3StoreRepository not realizing that some of the buildings that came with the downloads needed to be placed in a separate location (Library folder).

Once I moved them the game stopped hanging and I was able to use my renamed Sims 3 folder.

Very much appreciated.
