Update error when downloading fix. [SOLVED]

I am trying to download the fix for sims 3, i have downloaded both town life and generations. i have followed the installation guide, but when i come to step 12. my game won't update. i get an error that says:
Update Error: Invalid file found.
And after I canceled downloading the update, when i try to start my game i get an other error that says:"No Game dic found! Please insert The Sims 3 generations game disc before proceeding"
blaah please help??

Hello,
Are you sure you copied the original files in the fix to their appropriate locations? It seems to me like you're trying to update a game that is still cracked. Make sure you read steps 10 and 11 very carefully because they are not the same as steps 3-9.
Please let us know how that works out.

i tried that again now, copy the files from the fix into The Sims 3 folder NOT the expansions folders right? it still doesn't work..
and i just realized that when in launcher my Town life Icon is blurred out, like i dont have it installed, could that have anything to do with my problem?

Hello,
The original files from Generations and Town life stuff go into The Sims 3/base game/bin, the original files from the other expansions do go in their own bin folder.
The blurred out icon has to do with misplaced cracks. But that shouldn't prevent you from updating the game, as the update is done before the crack.
In which order did you install your expansionpacks?

If you only have those two, the order doesn't really matter. But you might want to do Town Life Stuff before Generations for best result. Good luck!

You copied the files to the wrong folders. Please contact me via the Forum's chatbox. I'll fix the problem for you via TeamViewer.

Problem solved via TeamViewer, topic closed.
