infinite cas load screen. [SOLVED]

I just updated to patch 1.63 and then tried to load cas and the loading screen that comes up before entering cas never went away it just said loading create a household how do I fix this?. UPDATE I fixed it, it was mod related Smile

Hello,

First of all, if you use mods, you should make sure that all your mods are compatible with the latest patch version 1.63. But if you have some NRAAS mods (for example), then you might even want to double-check, because the mods might have been updated again, just very recently.

However, even if your mods are up-to-date, there might be problems. I had a problem where my savegame refused to load, and I eventually found out that I had to take out the NRAAS Traveler mod (it was compatible with 1.63 though).

So you might have to do that too: take out all mods, then put one in, start the game, see if it works, exit the game, put the next mod in, etc.

All of the mods are compatible for sure but when I try to test the mods one by one the game doesn't load if all the other mods in the overrides folder arn't in but the game does load when I remove the whole mods folder so I have no way of checking them myself.

What do you mean?
You should be able to test the Mods by putting the back in pairs of 2 or something and then test the game each time.

well when I have all of my mods in at once the game loads (with cas glitch) if I take all but one mod out the game does not load. I don't know why it wont load with only one mod In so that's why I can't fix this myself by testing

What mods do you actually have then ? There are mods which you cannot just take "out of the mods-folder". You need to deactivate them inside the game somehow. I can't tell you how exactly to do that - please refer to the instructions of the mods that you downloaded.

Otherwise, you can also try deleting all cache files in My Documents/Electronic Arts, before re-starting the game.

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

-and make sure to empty any contents in the folder "Currentgame.sims3" too (if you see any contents in it).

A online friend just told me to move the sims 3 folder to documents (thinking it might be corruption)and let a new one get made by the game then try adding the mods one by one. I tried that and I can load the game regardless of what mods are in or out. Now all I have to do is test all the mods to see what one is causing the cas glitch, Do you think it's safe to add my old saves, library folder, saved sims folder, user preset file, dccache back in?.

I'm afraid the only real way of telling this is to actually try. Yes, a corrupt savegame can cause this too, of course.

Good luck though ! Depending on how much stuff you have, this will certainly take some time and effort.

Unfortunately not - or not directly.

There is a tool called "Delphy's dashboard" (google for that). This tool can scan your ".package" files for conflicts, but beware: it's not always reliable.

I can also give you this here along the way: if you install an outdated/incompatible ".package" file, then it is usually enough to remove it from the Mods/Packages folder.

However, if you install an outdated/incompatible ".sims3pack" file, then it is much more difficult to handle the problem. I won't go into detail now, but as a "rough guideline" you can try avoiding all custom-made ".sims3packs" (stuff that was made by hobby simmers, and NOT by EA, so-called "third-party content). I know this sounds radical, but then: most of the custom-made clothing/makeup/hairstyles looks awful anyway. Laughing

I convert all my custom content to packages anyway so all of my custom content is fine (i'm using it already with no glitches) all of the mods I use are compatible with 1.63 so i'm trying to find out wich modder messed up. thanks for reminding me of dashboard Very Happy

I just remembered it also scans for corruption. my problem is solved for now Smile

thank you all for helping me with this issue, there is no other site better for help with sims 3 everyone here is so friendly regardless of how self-inflicted the issue is.

yep no glitch, moving the sims 3 folder fixed things up. I can now find out wich mod caused create a sim to not work properly (i'm playing without mods so the issue is gone).
