Island Paradise lagging and freezing Empty Island Paradise lagging and freezing

Post by Guest Tue 05 Nov 2013, 06:52

Hi there,

I was looking for topic regarding lagging and freezing on Island Paradise, I didn't seen to find any. If this topic was raised and solved I apologise.

Basically, I installed the expansion packs one by one from Games4theworld. I was so keen to play Island Paradise but it keeps freezing on me so I tried change town and the whole thing was fine.

I am not sure if it is the patch or it is my PC. Can someone please help me?

Thank you heaps

Can we see your system specs?
Do you have any bad/outdated mods? These tend to slow things down quite a bit.
Try to play a game without mods or CC if you have any and tell us if you can play the game smoothly on a "vanilla" game.

Thanks for replying,

My PC got windows 8 intel(R) Core (TM) i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.40GHz
RAM IS 8 GB 64-bit Operating System. AMD RADEON GRAPHICS.

I am not sure what mods or CC are. Do you mind explain more about them. I am not so good at it.

Base game works fine.

Thanks again,

Well I'm pretty sure your specs are fine, as I have a i7 3517 U @ 1.90 GHz, 4 GB ram and a NVIDIA GT 635M graphics card, well it also depends on your graphics card, pretty sure "AMD Radeon Graphics" is just the name.

Mods and CC are Custom Content, so things in the games (Clothes, hair...) that do not come from the Expansion or Stuff packs, sometimes if your mods and CC are outdated it can make your game bug or make it unplayable, to check if you have CC, you can open your Sims 3 launcher and click on
Installed content
As for mods, it is usually in C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

Hi xJ3rian,

I tried to find out what is my graphics card, so it is AMD Radeon HD 8800M Series

I dont seem to find Mods in the location you specified. Could it be anywhere else or it means I dont have one? As well as the CC in installed content.

Thank you Smile

Island Paradise lagging and freezing Empty Re: Island Paradise lagging and freezing

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear you're having such problems with your game!

To help you accurately, you're basically saying your game is lagging and freezing quite a bit (to virtually make it unplayable)?  I'm assuming that when it freezes, the green plumbobs continue to move, any "zzz"s from sleeping appear to move, etc, even though you can't control anyone and the entire game comes to a halt?

If this is the case, you're generally NOT dealing with a PC that cannot handle the game.
Like any other game that is very processor and graphics demanding, this game weighs heavily on your PC;  this game, also without you knowing, stores a lot of "caches" in specific folders.  Normally these wouldn't be bad, however, it all depends on your installed expansions, how much you download custom content and whether or not you actually have custom content.  Mods can also be sneaky buggers, but I highly doubt you have any, based off of your previous statements to the other members here.  Smile

Please follow a few of the steps I made up (there are 10 steps in total).  I actually had the same problem as you and found a cure on my own by doing a lot of research.  I compiled it all up, and if you're SURE you have no mods, this may do the trick for you and be an instant fix like it was for me.  Please follow each step as accurately as possible!

5. Go to: /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Screenshots.
If there is nothing in this folder, great.  If there is, the photos in here can be from 100kb upwards to 2-6mb each.  If you aren't using them, delete them!  If you're a storyteller, get them outta' there!  All they do is bog down your game.

6. Go to: /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods.
Delete ANY mods or Custom Content you DO NOT use or need!  We can all be .package hoarders but remember that every file has a file-size and the more unnecessary files you have, the less acceptable your game performance will be.  My main suggestion with any mods OR custom content is to ORGANIZE them by CATEGORY!  Example: One folder is for 'hair' the other is for 'game mods', so on and so forth.  Organize your hoards.  You will thank me later.

7. Go to: /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/DCBackup.
Delete everything in here EXCEPT the ccmerged.package!  These files are basically backup files of all your Custom Content.  These files are not necessary for a fully functional game, thus slowing it down.  Depending on your downloading habits, you may or may not have a lot of files here.  Some people have over 1000+ files in this folder;  I had 715 files and I'd only been playing my game for FOUR DAYS.
NoteThe ccmerged.package is NOT a cache file.  This file is required for the game to run and read premium content as it is the EA's hub for XML data. It wouldn't blow up your game if you accidentally deleted it - you may just mess up your save data/s and/or make your installations unstable.
Okay yes, deleting this file sort of does blow your game up.  Don't do it if you can help it.

8. Go to: /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/FeaturedItems.
Congratulations!  You've found the most annoying files contained within the most annoying folder!  Delete everything in this folder.  EA places pictures of every Featured Item here and it is completely unnecessary for you to have!  I recommend you delete everything in this folder.  If you’d prefer not to check this folder every other day, you can actually make this folder totally inaccessible to EA (in other words, they won't be able to place anymore junk in this folder!)
Right-click on the FeaturedItems folder.  Choose Properties.  Go to the 'Security' tab. Click 'edit' - you might be prompted with administrator approval.  Click on the account YOU play The Sims 3 on.  Look lower for 'Write' and click on the first check box under 'Deny'.  All boxes should check themselves, then click 'Apply'.  Poof, no more invasive file dumping!

9. Install these two mods:  Overwatch  and  MasterController.
Link 1: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Overwatch
Link 2: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController
The easiest way to use the Master Controller is to load up a family (perhaps even a family/save game that is acting slow or laggy), zooming out to 'Town View' and find your Town Hall.

Click on it and select the option 'NRass' then 'Master Controller'.  A whole menu should pop up for you.  At that point, click 'Town' and then 'Reset Everything'.  Let the mod and the game do its thing, as this may take a minute.  I suggest doing this every 12 hours (basically every day you play the game).  You can do this even after making a new family or save file!

Let us know your progress and good luck!  Smile

Post by Guest Wed 06 Nov 2013, 14:00

Hi Sephymuffins,

Sorry for late reply, I was trying to figure out how to installed Mods.

Thank you so so much for going through them so thorough.

So my case was exactly as you mentioned. And I tried all the steps above, only one folder that I have to delete was the "FeaturedItems"

I have installed Mods that you have given and applied the 'reset everything'.

The result is I can scrolling on the town view very smoothly and when I am playing it doesn't freeze for a min anymore but it still very laggy.

Anything else I have to apply or it is the problem with the extension?

Thanks again Smile

Hello,

You're welcome!  It seems you don't install or (at least) have any custom content as of right now.  That's is more than likely why you wouldn't have anything in any other folder except the FeaturedItems.

What I would strongly advise you to do at this point, is to redo the steps from the links in my signature.  I'd only suggest you do steps 2 through 5.  I had helped someone before that had a lot of lagging and freezing, and they found out that they had not applied the Ultimate Fix properly (or the one they did use was outdated).
If this does not work, definitely try to lower some settings in-game.  I know I can play my game on full settings, but sometimes it's not worth it!

Hi again Sephymuffins,

From the first comment of yours, the step start from number 5, is that count as 1 ?

I will try applying all steps again.

Thank you Smile

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion.  Sad

What I meant was to go here: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly, and follow the steps 2 through 5 once more.  Smile

Thank you Sephymuffins,

I'll try that when my brother is not home, cause he will be upset to lose everything he has done in Sunset Valley.

Are you able to check the date inside of the .pdf?  The .pdf is inside the Ultimate Fix.rar. ^^

Your problem is that you have an outdated Ultimate Fix.  Please redownload it from here:  https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly.  Once you download it, please check the date in the new .pdf.  It should say 31-10-2013.

Your issues and crashing is caused by the Fix being outdated.  Smile

I am afraid you are confused (sorry for the confusion btw). Sephy was asking you to download the Main Fix, not the temp fix again because the one you had is outdated. The up-to-date version of the Ultimate Fix has already been uploaded. However, please remove the temp fix first before applying the Main Fix.

No, all you need to do is remove the old temporary fix you have in your game's folder, download the normal Ultimate Fix and then reapply it.  Smile
