Can't Select Any Towns
Hi!
I was recently able to install Sims 3 into my Mac and it's able to load until the screen where we pick which town to go to. All options are gone and I'm stuck in the pick a town screen. What should I do?

Hello,
Have you perhaps tried to install the game more than once?
In any case, try this first. I believe you do not have any game data yet so it is fine to skip the backup:
- Navigate to your Documents folder. You should see a folder named "Electronic Arts".
- Delete the folder or rename it as something else if you have old saved data.
- Try out your game again.
Do let us know if it works

Re: Can't Select Any Towns
Thanks for the information
In that case, please try out these following steps for reinstallation. Do be very sure about the section for a clean uninstall. Your problem might be caused by old files mixed in with new ones.
HOW TO INSTALL THE SIMS 3 ON A MAC (simplified)
(Please click HERE for detailed instructions!)
* If you have previously installed The Sims 3 on your mac, please do a FULL and CLEAN uninstall before proceeding.
1) Install your base game.
2) *Update your base game to the latest version via the launcher's Game Updates tab. [Current: V1.63]
3) Unzip original Expansion Pack files with Stuffit Expander. (Skip Steps 3 & 4 if you have downloaded your EPs in .iso or .dmg)
4) Create .dmg files of the EPs with Disk Utility.
5) Install EPs in order of release.
6) Apply the LATEST Ultimate Fix for Mac. (Use ONLY the two files in the main #Crack folder!)
7) Enjoy your game!
Again, if you are unsure about one of the steps, please view THIS GUIDE for images and detailed instructions!
* If the update fails via the launcher for some reason, please download the manual patch instead HERE.
Again, let us know if it works

Game Crashing
hi so I was able to successfully install sims 3 onto my mac and the first few times i was able to play for quite awhile.
However when i opened it the next day it would start to crash and shut down my computer. the last time i played it it only lasted a minute.
I read the other questions here about how to fix it but how do i fix the game resolution? I've been erasing files also within my laptop so i guess my free space is now bigger.
What to do? Sorry i'm such a noob.

Re: Can't Select Any Towns
Hello there.
Sorry I got to your post so late. I must have missed it somehow. In any case, I have a few solutions for crashes and lags that you can try out:
Solution 1: Reducing Game Memory Usage
- Lower your game resolution.
- Use the "Save As" option instead of "Save" to generate new "healthy" files.
- Keep your Sim's inventory as empty as possible.
- Disable "Memories" from your in-game options.
- Delete existing "Memories" with the Nraas MasterController. [NRAAS/Master Controller/Sim/Intermediate/Remove memories>Homeworld]
- Read this link that Phoebe has posted before. It has many suggestions on how you can reduce memory usage which are quite often the causes of crashes.
Solution 2: Defragment your Mac
- Yes, you read me right. Macs actually do need to be defragmented, especially if you have large files. The Sims 3 files usually get very fragmented during installation, which means it takes a long time for the Mac to read the files, causing lags and eventually crashes.
- I personally use iDefrag. It is a little pricey, but definitely a great investment if you intend to keep your Mac healthy for a long time. Otherwise, you can look for any other alternative you wish.
Solution 3: Free-up Space in your Mac
- Clean up your files regularly and keep enough space in your Mac. It helps a lot!
Please let us know how you are doing
