TS3 and realism
What do you think could be more realistic about The Sims 3? Aside from the obvious aspects that will likely come with an expansionpack.
I definitely think babies are the most unrealistic in TS3. Any mother or father could tell you that a baby is not going to be content in his/her crib all day, aside from 3 snuggles and a bottle every once in a while. I'm a mom myself and for the past 4 months I've been carrying a baby around almost non-stop. Putting her in her crib when she's not tired is simply not an option lol.
Also, I've been hoping that female sims would have the option to nurse their babies instead of that same 'ol bottle, it should be possible, as I have seen in The Sims medieval. Maybe its a thought for those modders out there. Or there might already even be one available, I should check it out. But I guess that is only important to the "lactation enthusiasts" among us and most simmers wont care (as) much.
Lets discuss, what else could be more realistic?

Hi there,
Haha, I think the thing is that I like The Sims 3 because it's not too realistic. It's perfectly balanced for me. It makes life easier, lol.

Re: TS3 and realism
Man, try initiating a game of Tag at an intersection.. Those sims don't care what's coming.. I had my sim kid playing tag, running in out of out the street with cars barreling through the both of them.. I don't know if I want them to stay on the lot, or just see the sims playing Tag get what they earned from an oncoming car..

Re: TS3 and realism
LOL I had noticed that about cars as well, they seem to go straight through a sim on a bike who was going in the same direction.

There's a mod that lets you buy guns and shoot other sims.

Re: TS3 and realism
I bet someone could mod in diseases pretty easy with the moodlets.. It'd be cool to stay home with the flu playing Sims 3; and get the flu on Sims 3..
I actually did find something that bothers me that could be curbed with some "realism adjustments".. That damn contacts list.. I'm tired of my sim having the phone number of every sim that walked past him while he was drumming in public somewhere..
I'm dreaming of an "Exchange Info" social interaction..

Re: TS3 and realism
These are all good points.
Being sick should be easy enough, there's already a "nauseated" moodlet. Wasn't there disease in The Sims 2?
I think there could be more realism with kids. It disturbs me that toddlers can no longer bathe. And I miss the changingtable for babies. I still think mothers should be able to nurse their babies. Its possible in The Sims Medieval, so why not modern day Sims. With progression comes boobs without function? Or what? High tech formula.. lol.
I had hoped The Sims 3 would have nursing before it was released. But so far I've been disappointed.

Re: TS3 and realism
Definitely! And I think watering houseplants got out of style also after the original The Sims. I always hoped they would bring that back with TS3, even though I kept forgetting to water them LOL. The same is true in real life I'm afraid.

Re: TS3 and realism
Anyone else think there should be an option to like, "Form gang" or something? Like how they have for bands n what not?
I always wanted to make a household of gang-members, runnin' around town doing mischievous things & joining the criminal career. =P

I've never thought about that. But there's no such thing in my country. Not so much in the rest of Europe either I believe.
The only thing I know about gangs is learned from tv. CSI like series obviously but I've also seen a documentary about MS13.
There could be a mod, just like the one with the weapons.

Re: TS3 and realism
Really?! Wow.. I dunno what it is about America then, it seems the more it tries to be above a 3rd world country, the more it becomes one... We have street gangs here in the US, almost everywhere.. There's at least 1 or 2, in every major city... I guess the concept would seem pretty foreign to someone if you weren't around it or aware of it growing up.

Re: TS3 and realism
To me, it is something that is typical for the USA. I know some European countries have gangs but definitely not on that scale.
Of course we have groups of people getting into trouble, but its not like gangs where once you're in, there's no getting out. Also, no groups of teens getting even with each other and bad neighbourhoods with shootings every day. There are criminal "gangs" but they can in no way be compared. They just commit crimes but don't fight each other and they're not recruiting youth.
Before I hoped that it was all exaggerated in tv series but that docu on MS13 was an eye opener.
I think America has people of so many nationalities that that's the reason they gang up, especially kids and teens and young adults, being rebellious, standing up to the world, being a part of something. America knows more poverty, not that its a poorer country but the differences between rich and poor are much wider than at my end.
And pot is legal which also makes a difference in my opinion
A lot of crime in the USA involves pot am I right? Not so much here, aside from the occasional home where it is grown illegally but hey that's a rather victimless crime if you ask me. Every major city has special (heavily regulated) shops that sell this stuff and there's no need to fight over it.

Re: TS3 and realism
Yeah, the way pot is so "criminal" here tends to then label a lot of people as "criminals", costs tax payers money, costs resources.. But, I'd say the harder drugs are the cause and root to a lot of gangs and/or crimes.. Like Crack and Heroin, Meth, stuff like that and guns.. Way more money involved than there is with pot.

Re: TS3 and realism
Ah yes but they say everyone starts with pot before moving on. Enough people in this country doing harddrugs (anything other than pot) and there is more crime involved with these but we don't hear much about that either. From time to time a methlab or a smuggler who's ingested it to make some extra money.

The same could be said about religion too.

Re: TS3 and realism
Not religion, the religious.
The religions I know are about peace, only people use their religion and some passages from their holy book to hide behind when these should be seen in context.
