Corrupted CC causing game to crash.

Argh! It's always something with me. This hasn't been a good day. I think some recent cc i downloaded, extracted, and merged into the game with CC Magic is corrupted, and has caused my game to crash everytime I'm loading into my saved neighbourhood family to play.

Is there any programs or methods i can use to detect and delete whatever is diseasing my game? I had the sims 3 dashboard, but it did not help.

Delphy's dashboard is the key. But if you've merged the CC, it'll detect the entire package as corrupt. You shouldn't really merge CC until you know if it's going to work or not, and it's a not a mod, as mods update every patch.

hi, i already have and utilized the dashboard and clicked on "fix problem"

it's still crashing. At the moment I'm gonna try reupdating it with ultimate fix and deleting my cc and installing them back on 10 at a time

When you do it, you have to find the package that is corrupt and disable it, or delete it.

Sorry for the delay, but are your CC items .package or .sim3pack files ?

If they are .package files, you could theoretically check them "one-by-one". Which means you put an item in, start the game, see if it works, exit the game, put the next item in and so on. Depending on how many items you have it can be quite time-consuming, but usually this is the safest method for .package files.

Also, Delphy's dashboard is a nice tool, but it's not always reliable.

However, if you have .sims3pack files causing issues, then it's much more difficult to get rid of them. One way could be to un-install them with the launcher, but otherwise, you may have to try and remove ALL your installed .sims3pack files - and start over.

Hello, I have both .package and .sims3pack files. I've tried reapplying the ultimate fix (with the manual patch) and to no avail. I'll just try making a copy of my current game and just reinstalling the entire game.

That's most likely not going to help with your issue, and it could even make matters worse, if you don't un-install correctly. And besides, the ONLY purpose of the "Ultimate fix" is that it allows you to play the game without having to insert a physical disc. In this sense, the description of the "Ultimate fix - solving most of your problems" is certainly misleading.

As for .package files, you'll still have to check them manually, I'm afraid.

Here's my tip: if you re-install .sims3packs, you should MAINLY use the official store content, since these items are safe to use. Ignore all other .sims3pack CCs, as radical as it sounds !

As for .package files, choose what you want, but be careful still: yes, it's relatively easy to remove a corrupt .package file. But if you install too many .packages at once, you'll "lose sight" of the install process. And if THEN something goes wrong, try identifying a corrupt .package file, among a huge amount of .packages.

so. in conclusion, i have no idea what's causing my game to act this way. I reinstalled the game, searched, deleted and reinstalled my mods and downloads, and tried resetting my saved games..and nothing worked.

my legacy is gone. Time to start again. Luckily I saved one of my sims from my previous game. Thanks for the help, though.

Sadly I've had issues like this pop up with my legacies too, even without any change to the game. I don't know why it happens, but after generation 5 or 6, I always have to restart because of save-corruption. And even if I backed up the save, still when I get to those generations it starts going bad.

It's certainly a far-fetched idea, but do you have any experiences with the tool in Lady ElDi's opening post here ?

Sometimes it can help preventing savegame corruption. While I haven't really played with "generations" of sims yet (I'm basically playing with my female young adult sims that I created right from the start, and turned off aging Laughing

), this tool helped me with some weird save corruption issues. If you haven't tried that tool yet, it might be worth a try, for the future.
