Sims 3 Error Random [Tried CrashToDesktop] Empty Sims 3 Error Random [Tried CrashToDesktop]

Post by Layloria Tue 22 Apr 2014, 22:10

Hi there!

I've been having a slight issue with game crashing. It happened one day out of the blue. The night before it was on for hours with no problems or crashing. The next day it starts crashing during gameplay. I tried removing my mods/cc (annoying when you've used some of them for your current savegame lot!) and the issue is still at large!

I changed to your Mods and Store Fixes (except old reliable nRaas mods -fully up to date) but before the crashing in game began. I did have an issue where it would not start and found it was a mod error so I added individually and removed fixes and switched to yours, success; I could keep my store mods working and play the game.

The next day, the crashing. I do manage to save but eventually usually within the hour, a crash will bother me to the desktop.

1. Tried your forum for clues, directed to Crash to Desktop
2. Tried all steps except the one for 32 bit systems at the bottom
3. So thats 4gb patch, DEP, so forth.

Managed to play a little longer but it still crashed again Sad

Nothing new has been added to my sims 3 since it started crashing.

64bit AMD A-10
12GB (Should be using 4GB for Sims 3- used patch)
AMD Raedon HD 7660D Graphics
Windows 7
All sims 3 from yourselves or bought, current patch and fix from here.

Thank you! Very Happy

Hello,

For now, I have no reason to assume this is related to any mods/CC, since you don't seem to have added any new mods/CC before the crashing happened. For now, delete all contents inside the Currentgame.sims3 folder. You'll find that folder in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3.

Next, go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saves. Look for a folder with the name (Name of your savegame).sims3.

Please MOVE that folder out, into a different location (e.g. desktop). Next, look if you have a folder in the savegame location looking like this: (Name of your savegame).sims3.backup.

If you have such a folder, remove the .backup ending in the folder name (so that the folder "looks" like the one you just moved). Restart the game and see if your gameplay improved in any way. Note: if this really workds, you will have lost some in-game progress, but at least, you might be able to play the game again.

Good luck !

Thanks!

I have just tried it and awaiting my game to pop up.

Question: Is there meant to be a (name of save game).sims3.bad folder?

It seems to work! Thanks Smile

You're welcome, and you can safely delete the folder with the .bad-ending. Also, I strongly recommend you regularly backup your whole "Saves"-folder (in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3) to a SAFE place, like a USB flashdrive for instance.

Do you have any other questions ? Smile
