Just a question please re: into the future expansion pack. [SOLVED]

Hi all,
I haven't been on this site in awhile. Been enjoying my sims3 game thanks to all the helpful people here
I know this is a stupid question but what I want to know is if I download into the future legitimately like from amazon for $19.98 (the digital download) will I have any problems playing my game? I'm updated only to 1.63. Is it possible to buy this expansion pack and not have any problems in my game?
Btw, my isp fined me for having copyrighted content on my computer. It was a whole big thing here, I was so pissed. My daughter also had it on her computer so we both had to delete every torrent and program associated with downloading movies, music etc. It was horrible, they slowed my internet speed down to a little above dial up which I had like 25 yrs ago and also fined me. It was mostly my daughters stuff with all the music she's downloaded in the past and movies and this was from like a few years back. Anyway, now that everything is off our computers I can't get anything from this website again or risk possibly having problems again.
So the last expansion pack I have is university life so if I wanted to buy into the future, would there be anything I need to do or anything I need to know or will it just download to my game and will it run fine? I hope no one minds that I ask this question here, I just don't want to mess up my game at all and before I do spend the money I just wanted some advice on what to do.

Hello,
Yes, you can use the "Ultimate fix" from here with that downloaded game, and you shouldn't get any problems with that. Also, I'm sorry to hear about the issues with your ISP; but you may want to google for "VPN and torrenting", to learn about these "Virtual Private Networks". They can "cover" your internet traffic, so that your internet activities can't be tracked down so easily, but most of the better VPN services are not free; so you have to pay for them. But you may still want to consider that possibility.
After installing that dowloaded expansion, just repeat the steps from #2 to #4 here:

Just a quick question, I have to refresh my memory since I haven't done this in so long, I purchase and download the game first (i'm not getting the expansion from origin, probably amazon) then install it then do i apply the ultimate fix first or just do steps 2 through 4? My game is only updated to 1.63. Does that mean I have to update it further or can I leave it at 1.63? Thanks for your help. Just wanted to make sure I did the steps in the right order

Too bad our Premium Downloading and CD/DVD Service are down, those would've been a good alternative for you.
Anyway, yes, install everything, following the steps Carlos linked to. (So there's no need to do all the steps from the Ultimate Fix, just the "# Crack" part)
The latest version of the Ultimate Fix only works with the latest version of The Sims 3, so you'll have to update to version 1.67 of The Sims 3, using the manual patch provided in step 2.
