My sims don`t move Empty My sims don`t move

Post by Guest Fri 25 Jul 2014, 13:37

Hi,
I was previously having a problem with my sims 3 but it was solved thanks to your help (https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-7-01-2014). Now unfortunately, i am having another problem. I am actually using Windows 8 and my game is updated to the 1.67 version. The problem that i am having is that My sims stop moving all of a sudden, i am o more able to get access to anything. What is more strange is that all of the other things act as normal that is it is still raining or snowing even througgh i can`t use my sims. When this happen, i have to wait for the game to respond back but it is annoying when it takes more than 1 hr to respond.  Sad  If anyone is able to help Thank You

Hi. I experienced this at one point in my game and did a few things to eradicate the issue.
Sometimes people experience this if they are using Mods and they are outdated.
Also the performance of your computer affects your game as well. Try using  Defragment and Disk Cleanup to free up space on your computer and allow it to run a bit better.
Also, After installing the program Game Booster, it helped Alot.  http://goo.gl/JLONTD

Hello Again.
You can find out if your MODS are outdated by going back to the website of origin, for example, Nrass OR Mod the Sims, and seeing if they have come up with any updates to the mod. I know that Nrass keeps logs of his updates on the pages of each update. Mod the Sims posters tend to do the same.
Its always good to go back to the site that you got the mod from atleast once a month to make sure that they haven't made an update. They usually do when there is a new Sims 3 game update to make sure the games don't mess up on account of their hardware and because of the new features that are usually added with each new installment.

I hope my information has helped you.

Hi tinalaurena,

The best way to really figure out which mod is messing with your game, is to drag and drop all mods from your /Mods/ folder and place them on your desktop.  Once they are all on your desktop (please be sure to double-check that there are no stray mods laying around), do the following:

Go to: /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/.
Once you are in this folder, scroll down.  Delete the following files:  CASPartCache.packagecompositorCache.packagescriptCache.packagesimCompositorCache.package.
Note:
You want to delete all four of these specific cache files whenever you either add a new neighborhood, download any custom content that will appear in Create a Family (CAS), when you download any mods, etc.  It is essential that you clear your game’s cache when anything new is added so that your game will run as smoothly and glitch free as possible.  Keep in mind as well, this step also applies if you end up taking away Custom Content (CC) or mods, too.  Not all files with the word ‘cache’ in them should be deleted, just the ones listed above.

Once you do this above, place TWO mods only in your mods folder, then run the game.  See if this helps (more than likely your game will start working! But the work here is anything but finished.)  If your game is working, promptly close it (do not save your game).  Go to your desktop and, again, drag and drop two more mods into your mods folder (so you now have four mods) - once again, run the game and see if there are any issues.  If there are none, repeat the process (close the game, do not save, add two more mods).  You will then, soon, figure out which mod/s may be wreaking havoc within your game.  If you run into an issue, close the game again and then place ONE of the two newly added mods to your desktop and test your game again.  If all is well, chances are the mod you moved to your desktop is either outdated or is not compatible with the other mods you are using.

This is a tedious process, but it is worth it in the long run.  Mods that are not compatible or mods that are outdated can actually REALLY mess up your game, even corrupt save data, depending on what type of mod it is your are using (some mods modify script data, while others modify core elements of game-play)!  I'm a mod advocate, but modifying your game without knowledge of what you're really doing can be like playing with fire.

Hope this helps!  Let me know if you have any questions or need anymore help.

Hello tinalaurena,

Up to a certain extent and in some cases (not all, but some), we can help you pinpoint bad mods/custom content, so that you may remove them. Ultimately though, it is solely your responsibility what you download and install. Nobody else can do that for you.

For the future, try adding mods and custom content "slowly". This means, just add maybe 2 or 3 mods at one time and start the game. If you play on for a while and see that everything's OK, you may add more stuff. But you get the idea: you should NOT add "tons" of stuff, at once. Keep it slow, and you should be fine. Good luck, and keep us posted ! Smile

As a little side-note, Carlos' advise here is 100% spot-on and I should have mentioned this, too.  You definitely want to download all Custom Content and Mods (especially mods) slowly, testing your game out every so often to make sure everything is running correctly.

It's always terrible when you mass-download CC and then something goes wrong somewhere - you then have to do the tedious steps I mentioned earlier, to figure out what is causing your game to act strangely.

What he said. What Carlos said is just perfect!!!

Also, try using CCMagic to organize your Custom Content, because it makes fewer larger files with many content together, allowing the game to run much better!

Hi tinalaurena,

You can visit this thread here, from G4TW:  [ Click! ]

I have also noticed that the main tutorial page on Modthesims is down, so just use the tutorial above that I posted, instead.  If you have any questions about the tutorial or need any help, please create a new topic!  If you've been helped in this topic already and all is good, would you like us to go ahead and close this topic?  Smile

There is a very good guide by J.T. on that, here:

https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t15843-how-to-use-cc-magic

Other than that, please keep in mind what I said before, about slowly adding the stuff too. There is no way around this basic rule; CC Magic can only assist you a very little bit with that, but - again - you cannot "delegate" the responsibility for properly selecting and adding mods/CC to a program.
