Windows 8.1 (g4tW download) username and password? [SOLVED] Empty Windows 8.1 (g4tW download) username and password? [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sat 20 Sep 2014, 02:27

i got the install to run properly using the pb link from the downloads page.

i used a flash drive to install. it's a fresh install on a new machine.

before i can get to windows (to activate the copy using the activator) i get a screen that asks for user name and password.

it also skips a few set up options before i have the opportunity to set up windows for the first time.

any suggestions?

Isn't that your Windows Live account?
I think it is necessary in Windows 8...

Hi there,

If so, you can completely bypass the Microsoft account requirement, using this method: http://www.hanselman.com/blog/HowToSignIntoWindows8Or81WithoutAMicrosoftAccountMakeALocalUser.aspx

But if you like, you can just link your Microsoft account too.

yah i'm aware of how to set up a local user log in. the problem was that after booting it skipped through the normal windows set up options w/o letting me have access to those options.

i'm not sure if it was an issue with that copy of windows or not.

i've since found a copy of Windows 7 pro (also from G4tW) that works perfectly and is up and running now with full activation/updates with no issues.

i actually prefer 7 over 8 so i'm happy with this.

thank you very much for your response and insight to solutions to the thread. i'll long remain a happy member of the site/forums here at G4tW!!

Mod edit: problem solved, topic closed. If you have any other problem, feel free to oen a new thread. Until then: have fun ! Smile
