Expansion or Base Issue Empty Expansion or Base Issue

Post by Guest Mon 13 Oct 2014, 20:31

Hi, I'm having some trouble with downloading the World Adventures addition. I tried to find help for myself and couldn't, so this is my last resort.

I am on step 7 of the World Adventures Installation Guide. Whenever I go to open my Sims 3 launcher, a window pops up with it and says "There was an error during setup. Please see the Log for more details."

I have done everything word for word on the installation guides and I have had no problems until now. I made sure to go down the line of updates and made sure I finished them all before moving to step 7. I don't know what is wrong. Is this a problem with the game base or the expansion pack itself? If someone could help explain, that would be great. I really just want to get through this torrent process.

Hi there, and welcome to the Games4theworld Forum! Smile

Please, remember that the guides inside the game installation torrents are outdated and should not be used. The proper guide for installing The Sims 3 can be found here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

The only thing you need to do with the game installation folders are actually installing the EPs, using the Autorun inside and the product code found inside the Installation Guide.

Regarding the error, is this the first expansion pack you have installed? And have you ever had The Sims 3 installed on your PC before?

Expansion or Base Issue Empty Re: Expansion or Base Issue

I have had the Sims 3 and a few of the expansion packs before, but they were deleted about a year ago. I completely installed the Sims 3 base with no expansion, and I waited a few hours before attempting to add an expansion. I picked the World Adventures cause I saw that the installation guide said to do that one first. I haven't made it through the complete guide for that expansion pack because I am stuck on opening the launcher to get the EA Manager to download.

I see. It's not actually necessary anymore to install the expansion packs in order, but you can do it if you want. Also, please ignore the guide inside the torrent that you downloaded for World Adventures (and every other expansion pack). The actual guide is this one here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

The problem with the Launcher may be that there are some registry keys left behind from the previous un-installation of The Sims 3 on your PC. Please, take a look at this post and watch the video linked in there:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t6052-error-during-startup-see-log-for-more-details-fix

If you follow the instructions from the video, the problem should disappear. After that, continue with the installation according to the guide I linked earlier. Please, keep us updated on how it goes. Good luck! Very Happy

Okay, that helped, but now it's saying it can't connect to the EA download manager. Do I need to just follow the rest of the installation instructions?

Glad that the error is gone now! Smile

As for the installation, again, IGNORE the Installation Guide you are currently using. That guide is outdated and won't work anymore. The real guide for installing The Sims 3 is here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

There's no need to get the EA download manager, and none of the other parts of the guide that you are following. If you already installed World Adventures, continue with the next expansion pack, and when you are done follow the Step 2 of the guide from the link above. Don't use the "Installation Guide" PDFs inside any other expansion pack installation folder. Sorry for the bolding, but it seems that you haven't read that part in my other replies. Wink

Please, let us know how it goes. Good luck!

I have read the part about the installation guide that was included in the .rar files, and I understand not to read them, but your new guide simply says "download the sims 3 and any expansions you'd like" and I do not know where to go from here because the World Adventures expansion is still not installed into the main game. I don't know how to install it. You guys should include a how-to video for expansions along with the one you have for the base game.

I see. The only thing you need to do to install World Adventures is to double click the "Autorun" inside, and when it asks you for the product code you take one of the list you can find inside the Installation Guide. After that, you're done. You can continue with the next expansion pack, doing the exact same thing. That is: Autorun, product code, done. Smile

After you finish installing all of the expansion packs you want (be sure to include at least one of the mentioned in the Step 1 of the guide), continue with the Step 2.

Good luck! Very Happy

Okay, then I guess I have another problem.

I'm sorry to be a pest, I thought I could figure this out on my own, but I guess I need more pointers then I thought I'd need.  Oh my...

When I double click on the Autorun.exe file with an EA icon, a window pops up saying:
>SetupNew\setup.cpp (140)
PAPP:
PVENDOR:
PGUID:
$15.0.0.498
@Windows Vista Servic Pack 1 (7601)
IE Version: 9.11.9600.17280

What does this mean?

Don't worry, you are not a pest! We are here to help, after all. Smile

Did you make sure to extract the RAR file you are getting with WinRAR? Using another program may damage the files. You can get WinRAR in our downloads server too, here:
http://www.games4theworld.org/downloads.html

You can check more information about that error here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t16881-setupnew-setupcpp-140-error-fix

So, please try extracting the RAR file with WinRAR and then attempt again. Keep us updated on how it goes! Very Happy

It's good to hear that! Very Happy

Yes, now you only need to install the rest of the expansion packs you want. Just use the Autorun and get the product code from the Installation Guide. Also make sure that you install at least one of the EPs mentioned in the Step 1 of the Guide. Then, continue with step 2. Good luck! Smile

If you want, we can keep this topic open for you to post any other problems (or questions) you may get. After the game is up and running, please let us know so we can close it as solved. Thanks!

Expansion or Base Issue Empty Re: Expansion or Base Issue

Post by Guest Mon 13 Oct 2014, 23:39

Okay, will do.

Will each expansion that I install leave behind a desktop icon? Will they still be in my game if I delete the desktop icons and only keep the main base game's one?

Yes, each of the EPs and SPs you install will leave a desktop icon. But they are only shortcuts, nothing more. You can delete them safely and the game won't be affected in any way. Don't worry about that! Wink

Expansion or Base Issue Empty Re: Expansion or Base Issue

Post by Guest Wed 15 Oct 2014, 00:28

I've downloaded all of the expansions I want at the moment. I thought I'd try to see if the game would play without having to download the file from the second step of your new guide. When I did try, it asked for the Into The Future disk. If I go ahead and do the rest of the steps with the new guide, will this problem be fixed or was this something I messed up?

Hi again! Smile

This problem will be fixed when you finish the guide. The Ultimate Fix (Steps 3-4) bypasses the disc authentication, so as soon as you apply it the error will be gone. If you have any problems when you finish the guide, just let us know. Good luck! Very Happy

Expansion or Base Issue Empty Re: Expansion or Base Issue

Post by Guest Wed 15 Oct 2014, 16:40

Okay, I am having a problem still.

I followed the guide, and everything seemed to be working fine. I start up the Sims 3 launcher and click play, and the game starts loading, blah, blah, blah. Instead of getting just the Sims 3 Base game to come up, it says I am playing on the Into The Future expansion. I know this doesn't really affect it, but I still thought it was weird. When my game finally popped up where it allowed me to click on saved games and/or play new ones, a pop up came up saying that I still haven't inserted the Into The Future disk and only gave me the options to Retry or Quit.

How can I fix this?

Hi again! Very Happy

It's normal that the loading screen is of Into the Future, as it will always be of the latest expansion pack released that you have installed. You'll never get "just the base game" to load up, as the expansion packs get added to it. They aren't separate games. Wink

The problem with the disc is because of the Ultimate Fix. Remember that you only need to use the #Crack folder inside, and the rest of the folders can be ignored. Just take the .dll and the .exe inside and copy and replace them to Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. In other words, only follow the last step of the guide inside the Ultimate Fix.

Please, try it again and let us know how it goes. Good luck! Very Happy
