Pirated books on Kindle Fire HD 7 2014

Ummmmm hey guys I have a question for all of you, if you have a kindle or ereader etc, especially a kindle. Can you please tell me if Amazon can pick up if you have a pirated copy or do I have to do something special to get the books on? Some people say to keep the wifi off while others say to not register the kindle and the goodie too shoes say just buy the books and be a good citizen.

Ok I have no problem with being a good citizen but not everyone has the money to get what they need to get. Im fortunate enough I have electronics and internet to keep me by in SM (Social Media) I just never have the money for buying the books and games I want. I mean come on, I'm a teenager, I don't have money to blow away. So at least there is a reasonable reason as to why I do this.

but I'm getting a kindle for Christmas, and I have a lot of pirated play books, haven't had a problem with that even though I know all ebooks are DRM'ed to keep the pirates off (Obviously that was a fail) But I'm worried for the kindle, I know amazon is a big industry focused on their business and money and some kindle owners say that amazon has the right to look through your kindle device because it's their product. So I want to know if it would be safe to transfer my books over to the kindle even though I have them pirated. Help

Hello Madam_Mayslee,

I don't know how Amazon's proprietary "Kindle" works, since I myself only got a relatively simple e-book reader (a Sony PRS-T2). On that model, I can transfer as many (pirated) e-books onto it as I have free space for, without any fear of things like "being caught".

That said, while I don't know how the Kindle models work, I don't think you will get yourself in trouble. If Amazon wanted to "control" you, they probably would only allow some sort of special document types on that reader only; some proprietary file format from Amazon, with a special file ending. They (Amazon) might be able to see what files you got on your Kindle, but beyond that, there is no way to determine whether you pirated a .pdf or whatever file. After all, it *could* be one of your personal documents. It *could* even be that you bought all those e-books, storing them on your PC before; and now you simply transferred them over to your Kindle ?

Again, to my knowledge, you cannot (safely) tell whether an e-book is pirated or not. There could be issues, let's say, if you buy a DRMed e-book via that Kindle and then try transferring that file to another Kindle device, but maybe someone else has better knowledge of that.

But if you transfer an average pirated .pdf file to that Kindle, I'm pretty sure you should be doing fine either way. Smile
