PC Crashes and turns off after approx 10-20mins playing SIMS4 Empty PC Crashes and turns off after approx 10-20mins playing SIMS4

Hi there

I have seen another topic regarding crashing and someone else commented about his computer crashing to the BSOD and then turning off but never followed it up with a new topic, but this is happening to me.

I have installed everything required and can create sims no problems but when I go to the game play it only stays on for about 10 - 20mins before it shuts down.

I'm guessing this is not a hardware damage issue as such as it is happening to others so maybe software/drivers related.

My computer set up is as follows:
Window 7 64bit Ultimate
8mb DDR3 RAM
Ati Radeon HD 6970 2gb Graphics Card
120gb SSD for programs and 1TB HD for storage
AMD 6 Core CPU

All the drivers are up to date as my SSD died so this is a clean install a few days ago.

I have tried to take a screen shot of the BSOD but it goes off so quick I can't press it quick enough.

Any assistance would be great and I really appreciate all the work you put into your sites.

Regards

Hello gingerwinger and welcome,

After the BSOD, when you re-start the computer and get to the desktop again, you should get a window in Windows 7, about said BSOD. It will contain some data, like "BCCode" and other stuff. Please make a screenshot of that window which has the BCCode in it.

Alternatively, you can also try memorizing the code that shows up in your BSOD. The code will usually start with 0x000...and it would be good if you memorized the last 3 numbers and/or letters in the code string. But again, I guess the other method with making a screenshot of the window on the desktop is easier. Smile

And do you get that issue when playing other games ? Did you ever get that in the past, with THAT computer ? And if not, do you remember when this started happening ?

Hi Carlos

Many thanks for your response...

I uninstalled SIMS4 and reinstalled again and thought I had cracked it as it worked for around 30mins ok but then went to call someone and it shut down again.

This is the error code it gave me when it went back to windows:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
  OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
  Locale ID: 2057

Additional information about the problem:
  BCCode: 100000ea
  BCP1: FFFFFA8006AF6A00
  BCP2: 0000000000000000
  BCP3: 0000000000000000
  BCP4: 0000000000000000
  OS Version: 6_1_7601
  Service Pack: 1_0
  Product: 256_1

Hope this helps you a bit.

Many thanks again :-)

UPDATE...

It turns out it's a driver issue somewhere with the graphics card so I uninstalled and installed the latest versions of all the ATI drivers available and SIMS4 worked for about 2hrs then crashed again.  Didn't get to see the error code as my daughter was playing so carried on regardless.

The strange thing is I installed all the latest drivers as it was a new install of windows only a few days before putting SIMS onto it.

I will go through every driver installed and update to the latest versions and see if that helps.

You see...Sims games have a strange way of working. Your system is better than my current one. But I very rarely get crashes and I can play at maximum graphics settings, with no issues. For now, you should configure your DEP and memory usage of the game. For this purpose, please read up on this post here from me and do all the steps:

Good luck !

P.S. thanks for editing your post (most people usually double-post, instead of adding stuff to their original message, lol). Very Happy
