Pixelated legit game?

So I've been playing Sims 4 from my friend's origin account for months now, no issues whatsoever. Today I start the game, all of the sudden all my settings are set to default. Okay, no problem, let's set them the way I want them again, reload game. And then for the first time I ever got the pixels issue? But it's a legit copy and it's never happened before? My friend hasn't even played this game since October. Is there a fix for legit game?

That's a weird problem and a good question.
Are you sure you didn't download any cracks for The Sims 4? (Not even the Ultimate Fix, or a 3DM crack) Did you only download the original game via Origin and then start playing?
