Office 2013 keeps configuring Empty Office 2013 keeps configuring

Hi,

I downloaded Microsoft office 2013 and followed the steps in the instructions. However, every time I try to open excel or word (and probably the other programs as well) I get a new window from office that says: configuration progress (with a progress bar). When this is done, it asks to restart the computer, which I did, when I try to start the program again, the same window pops up and the process repeats. If I cancel the process, the program shuts down.
Last time it said 'Error 25004. The product key you entered can not be used on this machine. This is most likely due to previous Office 2013 trials being installed. (System error: -1073418218)'.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hello Ava Bill and welcome to the forum,


Well, do you have any previous Office versions, or any Office 2013 trials on your computer ? If yes, did you make sure to un-install those properly ? 

You may even run a registry cleaner like CCleaner, to check your machine for any leftover registry keys. Then, after the cleaning, re-boot the PC again. Then try re-running Office 2013 again. Good luck and keep us posted !

Hi,

I tried the cleaner, and it did remove some more office 2010 leftovers. Even so, after re-booting I still got the configuration window, so I tried using the activator again, which gave me the following message: No installed product keys detected
If I agree to re-boot after the configuration is finished I just have to start over every time, if I don't I get the error message saying the product key cannot be used the next time I run office. Either way, I am unable to use it Sad

Is there anything else I could do?

I can give it a try via TeamViewer now. Read up on this here:

Or just PM me when you see me online on the forum, next time. In any case, you probably messed up in the sense that you didn't properly uninstall your older Office (trial) versions. And this is exactly the kind of mess that happens if you don't uninstall properly, BEFORE installing a new Office.

Hi, I did not know you could uninstall another way then via programs and features in windows Razz that usually seems to suffice...
Anyway, yesterday I decided to re-install office, I uninstalled and used the cleaner. After I re-installed office according to the installation guide it worked fine, until I rebooted my computer, when the same problem occurred again.. I could uninstall and re-install office every time I need it, but that does not seem very efficient Wink
If there's no fix I guess I'll go back to office 2010...

i think you have a problem with the crack you may have applied the crack in a wrong way

Assuming my theory is correct (there are leftover entries of your Office on your computer), then you could run into issues when installing another Office version, too. Again, if you see me online on the forum, feel free to PM me for TeamViewer help, and I'll see what I can do.

every time I run the cleaner it finds the same old files of previous versions of office, is it possible that they sort of re-install themselves after rebooting?
