can`t update sims 3

hi, i just downloaded the complete collection. when i tried to update it i got the error message that "The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate". i already downloaded the manual patch but the same error appeared, i also tried to uninstalled and reinstalled the base game but same stuff happen. Any more suggestion?? Thank you in advance

Hello tinalaurena,
Look here for "Your Un-installer Pro!":
http://games4theworld.org/downloads
Click on the magnet symbol to start downloading it. Install instructions are included. When you run the game, select your Sims 3 base game and THEN choose "Super Mode" for un-installing. Follow through, until the end (also delete those leftover registry keys, which are shown at the end !).
And then re-boot the computer please.
After that, try re-installing the base game. Also, how did you extract the contents from the .RAR file ? Please use ONLY the program WinRAR, which you can also find at the site I linked to above. Good luck !

Why doesn't it download ?

Can you actually click on the MAGNET-symbol on the left, to start the download ? It should then start directly in your torrent client. Maybe you'll have to confirm this though, in another prompt before that.
