Cannot install. [SOLVED]

The game (not the fix) will not install. I keep getting an error saying I don't have permission or the file doesn't exist. I have no other versions of the game. I have windows 8 (and a new computer, this is one of the first two things I downloaded.)

Also, I cannot read the installation guide in the fix (in reader it is blank, in notepad I can't find the words). So if the answer is in there sorry for asking, but I'm new to PC and can't figure it out.

Edit/ cannot get photos of error to post. It says "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package."

Did you make sure to extract the RAR file you got from the torrent using WinRAR? If you use any other program, the files may be damaged. So, try extracting it again with WinRAR and see how it goes.

About the Installation Guide of the Fix, you need a PDF Reader or Viewer to be able to open it. Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader are popular programs to do this.

I was finally able to get it insallted but I'm not sure which of the 50 different things I tried helped. But thank you for your reply!
