Best world to start Empty Best world to start

Post by Guest Mon 08 Jun 2015, 19:27

Hey guys, I just installed the Sims 3 (with all expansions and stuff packs) and before I start I would like to know what is the best world to start (I dont have any of the store worlds, but I can get if needed).
I've played before, was in Bridgeport, but now after all the expansions that were released I'm looking for a world that can take advantage of them all (ex go out at night, have different seasons, etc).

Thanks for the help

I like the Late Night World, Bridgeport.

About taking advantage of them all, I am indeed working on a world for that, which I call BlueRiver. I hope to release it before Christmas of 2015 (working on it since 2011, 4 years hands on/off next month!!)...

I would not recommend moving into Sunset Valley if you want to take advantage of all the EP features. For instance, I noticed during my gameplay that certain careers weren't available in Sunset Valley (you can't gain celebrity points in there, for instance, since there are no celebrities, and you can't have an acting career). I would recommend Moonlight Falls (has celebrities), although I don't think there's an acting opportunity there either.

In terms of gameplay opportunities, interesting households and places, my two favorites are definitely Bridgeport and Moonlight Falls.

As for the careers, it should be possible to edit the world in "edit town"-mode. Then you put the appropriate community lot/rabbithole from the library, like the gypsy wagon or the film studio, into an empty lot in the world. That way, you can have the film star or fortune teller careers.

I think you can also download an updated version of Sunset Valley, that includes the rest of the features from later expansions, though I can't recall right now where I saw it...

I actually can't remember right now, but that one looks nice too. Smile  So far I never actually played in Sunset Valley yet (can you believe that ?).

Most of the time I played in Isla Paradiso, though keep in mind that this world is very computer resource-intensive, so if you encounter lags or the like, lower some graphics settings. But Isla Paradiso is one of my favorites.

Expanding on the suggestion of Bridgeport, if you indeed want to start with that world (or play it anytime afterwards), I recommend deeply to use the fixed version of the world. You can find it here:
http://modthesims.info/d/452601

As it comes with the game, it's really cool and nice, but the routing of the roads is atrocious. If you pay attention to your Sim while they are traveling by car, you'll notice that they make a lot of unnecessary turns and loops, and may even get out of the car to get into the subway (for some reason). This happens in all of the worlds, but Bridgeport is the worst offender. It's the most bugged out of all the them. But that fixed version of the world in ModTheSims should alleviate most of those annoyances. Here is an extended explanation on why, what and how (among other) instructions to use these fixed worlds:

Are you completely sure of this? The first world I played in was Sunset Valley, back when I only had the Starter Pack: Original game, Late Night and High-End Loft Stuff. And I can assure you that there were celebrities on the town, as my Sim married one and ended up getting 5 stars. The mechanic was not disabled for the world.

But you are right that for the other features going to another world would be best, or follow Carlos' suggestion and add them to Sunset Valley. Again, for Bridgeport I would say that the fixed version of it is essential. There are also other fixed versions for most if not all of the worlds in the game (even the Store ones). Very Happy
