Sims 4 frozen at plumbob load
after applying the updated ultimate fix, my game has begun freezing at the initial plumbob loading screen for about 20-30 minutes. It eventually loads up to the home screen, but it is still very bothersome. I have removed all my cc and reloaded the game to make sure it wasn't any of them, but the problem persisted. It only begun this after applying the ultimate fix. I only have the base game, for i do not need nor want the other two expansions. I have deleted my localthumbcache package ( i would clear my entire cache, but oddly enough i dont have a cache folder) and the problem relieved itself (without cc) but begun again when i reinstalled my cc. It would be great to know a solution to my problem!

Re: Sims 4 frozen at plumbob load
Interesting. Are you running the game with your "Good" video card or the on board one (you can right click the shortcut and select it). Also, try running as administrator.
Besides that, it's normal to wait 20 to 40 min the first time the game loads, then it goes down to less than 10 minutes (unless you have a very slow drive).
Please, keep us posted!

I don't exactly understand what you mean by "good" video card, and right clicking thr shortcut. could you elaborate on that a bit more? but i tried running it as admin, and it continued to freeze at the plumbob load screen. [further explanation of issue: the plumbob stops spinning and i cant close the game by pressing the windows button or opening task manager, and it wont allow me to play or pause my music. the only thing i am allowed to do in this frozen state is wiggle my mouse mindlessly.

Sorry for the expression. I meant the video card with discrete memory and higher performance, like an NVidia or ATI
You can press Alt + Control + Delete if you want to call the task manager, that would stop the music since the game won't be in focus and you would be able to finish the process if necessary.
Not sure what's the best thing to do in your case. I usually do this, if such a thing happens to me (I'd stop the list as soon my game ran properly, of course):
- Rename The Sims 4 folder inside Documents;
- Try the game again;
- Uninstall the game, download it again after disabling all antivirus and smartscreen (I like the ones I share in my video, both base game and Get Together from there are all you need to have all DLC, no need to anything else);
- Watch my video (it's not advertising, honestly, I use my own videos when I need to reinstall my games, so I don't have to remember how to do it myself) and install it the very same way, since I know it worked once, it should work again;
- Rename or Delete (if it was the new folder the game created in step 2) The Sims 4 folder inside Documents
- Run the Game again after changing the compatibility preferences to run the game as administrator;
- Wait the 40 minutes for it to show me the menu, if it takes longer, kill the task and restart the game again;
- Run the Game by right clicking it and setting it to run with my NVidia Graphics Card;
- Check out my video card preferences and also my game options files, specially to set it to run in windowed mode;
- Look around the Forum to see posts from Carlos or Admin, which usually put together very nice instruction sets on how to make the game work properly;
- Lastly, I'd have to google for my problem or ask for help and wait them to assist me, since it would be kinda the end of line to me
Please, let's know how things turn out and how we can assist you further
Re: Sims 4 frozen at plumbob load
when i try to open task manager by ctrl+shift+esc, it does nothing. so if it were to be stuck for any longer, i would not be able to kill it, which is concerning since that means it freezes everything, and not only the game.

Re: Sims 4 frozen at plumbob load
I have the same problem. I have premium edition The Sims 4 base game and I downloaded updated ultimate fix from here and played it. I deleted the previous households and I built a new home for new family. I played for a while and saved it. When I play it the next day, the game freeze at the very first loading screen with the green plumbob. The green plumbob stopped spinning and in Task Manager, it says the game is not responding. Are there any solution to this problem?
My computer has all the requirements needed to play the game.

Maybe your anti virus removed or blocked the fix? Can you check your anti virus history/quarantine?
Or, perhaps, apply the fix again to see what happens?
