"A serious error has occured" Empty "A serious error has occured"

Post by Guest Fri 14 Oct 2011, 00:13

"A serious error has occurred for your town. Please restart the application". Has anyone found a fix for this? I get the same error with all 5 saves i made from the same town. I like the game, but if the saved files are going to get messed up every single time, it's not worth playing in my opinion. "A serious error has occured" 2830496658 I also checked around the web,and there seem to be a lot of other people with the same issue, but no fix.

Yes, I followed the installation guide to the letter. The game works fine and golden when you start a new game, its just when you try to load a saved file, it does that.

Mod edit: Topic moved to the right section.

Hello,
You could try one of Twallans mods, The error trap. It corrects or traps errors and should prevent errors like this from happening.
It is a user created mod, read the post I linked to and the readme carefully.

Hello,
How about your save games? I believe this mod only logs errors it can't correct. I'm not sure it would with existing errors.
How about your save games? Any luck?

I tried a rebooting fix (restart the PC before starting up the game) but it seems to work randomly. Some times it starts up, some times it doesn't. Why would a reboot work? I mean, wont it be the same thing to just go to the task manager and cut off everything related to the sims 3?

Hello,
Well I don't think it will. Rebooting may be good for crashes, not for save game errors.
I think the error trap is your only shot at getting your save games, but I'm not sure you can, it all depends on the error and its severity.
In any case, the error trap could prevent this from happening in the future.
