Hi, I did my own re-search before making this thread,.. I followed this video exactly...
and I just get  unable to start game 0x0175dcbb.. I have checked with any other files left over from an old install, even checked registry... all good, do I really need to reinstall? it took me forever.

UPDATE:

Never Mind, managed to fix it.. the issue appeared to be a stuff pack, that wasn't installed correctly for some reason.

Indeed, I would have suggested to look at this thread here:

The main message of the thread being the fact that the issue is often caused by abandoned/old registry entries of Sims 3 games. I would suggest you try and avoid uninstalling/reinstalling too much, at least on a Windows system (don't know Mac & Linux work in this regard). Because too much uninstalling can lead to these registry problems.
