Sims 2 crashes. Empty Sims 2 crashes.

I have just installed The Sims 2 complete collection. Every time I try create a sim the game crashes. Please help. it seems to crash when entering a lot too.

Although it is written for The Sims 4, you can apply the setting under II.). Also have a look at this here:
