Sims 3 Pets keeps crashing?
I've finally got the game installed and at first when I went to make a horse it crashed. So then I decided to just avoid making a horse and now it crashes every time I move my family into a lot. Two times I saw a pop up, one was about ancient burial grounds or something then it crashed, and another pop up but I couldn't read it and it crashed also. And the last try nothing popped up it just showed the lot real quick and then it crashed.
I have tried using the fix mentioned in other forums but nothing seems to be working. I am really getting frustrated. Help?

Hello,
Please wait for Admin to help, I haven't installed pets myself yet so my suggestions are only theoretical.

Please be sure to add ALL OF THE .exe files from all the The Sims 3 folders into the DEP, since it fixes the problem for almost everyone.

I have added all the folders, updated my games, and used the fix most problems thing. I don't see why it keeps crashing when I try to move my family onto a lot.
I have the Sims 3 base game that was bought and WA and Pets were torrented from here

Re: Sims 3 Pets keeps crashing?
I do have some CC. But I just reinstalled everything and the game sorta works now but it ended up freezing after a few minutes of gameplay.
I'll try disabling CC and see if that helps any.
//EDIT
I just tried running the game without my custom content folder AND my user files and it still crashes. At first the coloring in the game gets darker and dim and then it goes black screen to my desktop and I get a pop up that says Sims 3 has crashed.
I'll try disabling CC and see if that helps any.

Please try as following:
1. Completely remove ALL MODS and ALL CUSTOM CONTENT - everything.
2. Uninstall the game.
3. Restart your PC.
4. Reinstall the game.
5. DO NOT add anything to the game.
6. Start the game and see if it makes any difference.

I just got done trying this and now it freezes when I try to load a household. My screen starts flashing from reg. to dark and then I can hear the Sims when the household loads but my screen is stuck with the loading stuff.
Edit: I tried testing it with a different family that only had a dog and the game didn't crash. I tried the family I had been trying over and over again and they have a horse, so I'm thinking the horses are making my game freeze?

Hello,
This could indeed be your problem. Your CPU comes up short and after pets, your graphicscard may as well. Test your pc here.

According to the test I can run it. I'm actually way above the minimum requirements...weird

Re: Sims 3 Pets keeps crashing?
Yes that is weird.
Ok, on low end pc's you have to be particular about the quality settings and mods. Try setting everything to low. Make sure you stop all non-essential programs before starting the game, a free tool like Gamebooster can be helpful.
Also be particular about complicated mods. They can also cause the game to run slower and crash.

Thanks for the Gamebooster tip, but my game is now back to crashing. And I only have custom content and I just got rid of 98% of it. Even when I disable it my game still either freezes or crashes :/
I don't get it... I can run all the other expansions just fine. I've been doing more research online and it seems like its happening to a lot of people, so maybe there will l be a patch for it soon.

Re: Sims 3 Pets keeps crashing?
i get random crashes aswell, it's something every pc game struggles with. And don't be mistaken, there's a difference between minimum and suggested specs. the minimum is to run the skeleton version of the game, suggested would run any kind of the game. (minimum being everything set to low and close to no add-ons)

Re: Sims 3 Pets keeps crashing?
I have all my settings set to low and I've tried without any add ons
Guess I'll just have to wait it out since NOTHING seems to be working.
Thanks for everyones help though, I appreciate it

The weird thing is, I'm on a low end pc myself (AMD sempron 2GHz, 1024 ram, NVidia 7600GS), I use all expansions, all store content, and 2 NRaas mods with all settings to medium and the only time my game ever crashes is when I'm changing styles a lot in build/buy mode. I do notice that I can't use all the mods I like, I had quite a few mods from NRaas but that made the game way too slow.

Re: Sims 3 Pets keeps crashing?
Well any other ideas? I've waited for this game since the base game came out and was so pumped to finally play it. And now its just a big disappointment :/

Hello,
I can imagine your frustration. It could be your graphics card is no longer supported, my best suggestion is to wait for a patch though.

Re: Sims 3 Pets keeps crashing?
Mine kept doing this too.
My problem was I had ALOT of store and Custom content.
I deleted pretty much all of it but a few hair styles, a bedroom set and a kitchen set.
Fixed my problem.
Do you have CC/Store stuff?
Also I found another thread where someone had stuff still running on their Computers background, The ended all their background processes and it worked fine.
If you use windows:
go to desktop
right click your desktop toolbar (not on a program tab)
go task manager
Processes
end all processes that arent, Windows, Hardware (Graphics driver, sound card etc) (you may need to google some of your processes if you dont know what they are)
Once you done this, exit it and try sims again.
Note: Alot of people find Adobe update and Apple Update stuff clashes with sims, How true this is I dont know
