My Sims 3 pets keeps crashing.. Any help?

I just bought the sims 3 pets today and after I loaded it, it worked fine when I was making a family and pets, but when I moved them into a house, less then a minute later the screen goes black and a box pops up and says "sims 3 has stopped working, windows looking for solution to problem" and this happens everytime I try it, I have not been able to play it yet

Oh yeah, it used to freeze until I downloaded the new update from the sims 3, but now it just goes black and that box pops up
Does anyone know how to fix this, or know what is happening?
Any help would be great!

Do you have any Mods and/or Custom Content?
