City Living issues Empty City Living issues

Post by Guest Fri 23 Dec 2016, 05:19

Once I got the new update downloaded and installed with no issues, I started playing and have run across some problems. I'm just curious if everyone is having the same problems or if it's possibly custom content that's causing it all.

1. When my sim is not in their apartment, I can't find them. If I click on their icon to center the camera on them, it zooms me into a building that I have nothing to do with. After searching I will finally find them standing around somewhere completely different than where the camera takes me.

2. Actions are being cancelled immediately. If I click on them to go home, nothing happens. If I tell them to visit a building (the karaoke bar for example) they will just stand there.

3. I have noticed there are "jumps" in the animation. If I put my sim to bed, she will lay there for a few minutes than pop back up and stand by the bed. Same thing happens while sitting on the couch.

4. I only noticed this when talking to town sims. Not only will they jump around to different positions (sitting to standing) they will briefly hold out both arms to their sides.

5. One town sim I was talking to invited herself to my apartment, came in and made herself at home. (No I didn't invite her in or give her a key) Except she wouldn't go to the bathroom, peed on my floor twice City Living issues 1146282549 , my sim would not mop it up because the action kept cancelling and she wouldn't leave. Even after I asked/told her to. Now she stands outside my door complaining and dropping over from no sleep. (Which is kinda funny but still annoying)

Any ideas on what's causing all the problems?

Do you have mods/cc? It might be a good idea to try moving your mods folder to desktop and start the game to see if the problem persists.

Hello,

I believe (someone who bought City Living here) actually, these were mostly mentioned earlier already. They seem to be unfortunate glitches that may or may not be fixable in a future patch for TS4. WhatDidUJustCallMe?

@Teslachick2 I do have mods but about 98% is furniture/makeup/clothes. Out of curiosity I will still try to remove the folder and see what happens.

@The_gh0stm4n Just for the sake of wanting the game to work properly, I hope you're wrong. If it is glitches I hope they get it fixed because I do enjoy the update despite all the problems.

**UPDATE**
After removing all custom content, creating a new family and moving them next door to the previous couple I had issues with...there are still a LOT of problems. Now while I am playing the new couple I can see my other two sims in the apartment next door but all they do is stand around and complain that they need to shower, use the restroom or eat. How annoying. Too bad they released a game with so many glitches. As long as it took to get this update, who knows how long it will take to get a fix (if there will be one). Why God.

**UPDATE PART TWO**
The more I play (or try to) the more problems there are. In addition to everything else; extremely long load times, sims getting stuck and won't reset, sims will not go to work....the list goes on and on. I'm now wishing I didn't updated. My game is pretty much completely unplayable now. Killkillkillkill!

I just installed CL and so far, I've been able to play without coming across any of the bugs you mentioned. Only problem is my game sometimes crashes when I try to travel but that's something that happened even before CL. I thought I'd fixed it but looks like CL brought it back. Ah well...Every thing else works fine though. I'm sorry you're having those annoying bugs.

I've also been getting awful bugs as well. The problems I'm experiencing are that the game options aren't working. For example when I load up the game I only have one chance to press a button and then I can't select anything else, if I press for options then go to click the start button it doesn't start. And I don't have any options either, whenever I press any button the window that's brought up shows up blank along with random blank notifications when I'm in the game. And sims animations are frozen and delayed to the audio that plays, while they're supposed to be singing they'll be frozen in mid animation while the audio continues to play so they become out of sync. So my game also feels very unplayable..

You are definitely lucky not to have any of the issues. I've been doing a little research and there are so many posts all over the internet about people having the same problems as I am. I was hoping maybe it was just the new town with all the bugs but for me it's not, all of them are jacked up now.

Oh no! That sounds horrible. I haven't come across that issue, thank goodness. I hope we can all get a fix soon.

I also have not had any issues. But after I downloaded the new crack and before installing I removed my mods file, the saved game and the tray file. Than I extracted the torrent, installed the files as administrator and fired up the game, also as administrator. ( These hints were given by sims architect ) I played the game for a bit, then exited. After this I returned the Mods, saves and tray file and fired up again. No problems whatsoever ( touch wood ) I have been playing a couple of times, some of the cc ( mostly lamps for some reason) show a script error . That's all. I hope this might help some of you? Remove mods, tray and saves before installing. All the other advise given by the install instructions etc also apply of course. I always play the game as an administrator. Another hint by sims architect.Smile

You have given me hope that my game can be playable again. Even though I previously tried removing all cc and the game still had issues, I decided to see what would happen with your suggestion. This time I removed my mods, tray and saves folders and started it up. There were still a few minor bugs but nothing like what I was experiencing before. I spent a long time yesterday testing 3,500+ custom content and ran across 4 (script mods that I forgot I had  :$ ) that were causing my game to crash. Today I will try to add in my saves and tray folders and see what happens. Fingers crossed that my game will continue to work. Thank you for the suggestion! Carlos is tha man!!!

Glad it helped and I hope it continues to work. And please remember to remove those files BEFORE installing the fix. The game has to run clean for a bit. Then exit the game, put files back and start up again. Keeping fingers crossed Smile
