Contents of user data for newer version should I delete saves/mods? Empty Contents of user data for newer version should I delete saves/mods?

Post by Guest Mon 02 Jan 2017, 04:29

Hello there,

I've installed the base game, get to work and get together. I had too much issues with City life (already mentioned in other posts) so I decided to do a clean uninstall and reinstall instead.

I now get the message: the contents of your user data directory were created by a newer version and cannot be loaded.

Those save games are from an older unrelated (and uninstalled months ago) version.  Do I have to delete these save games or take out the mods or even other files to make it run? I'd rather not if I don't have to, but If that's the solution I'm ok with it.

Something else I missed?

Thank you for your time Smile  (and happy ny!)

Hello,

Welcome to the forum.
If I were you, I would simply back them up to another location for now, and see if they work later, once you can verify that your game loads.

Hello @Randomira,

Navigate to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and find the GameVersion.txt file. Delete it, and play again.  Another tip:
http://tinyurl.com/hu5a22p

This is the link for the previous Ultimate fix, which will give you again game version 1.20.60.1020. It's not up on the Forum here anymore, since we have the City Living torrent, but I still have the links, and the actual .rar files are still 'online' on those filehosters. Good luck! Wink
