About story progression Empty About story progression

Post by Guest Thu 19 Jan 2017, 19:22

I've decided to disable story progression because i don't like how it works. At first I didn't like that the game was moving out from their homes certain families, like the Goths for examble. Now I see that sims don't longer have kids and that the population of my town gets older. Instead the game would add ugly sims(i mean those sims who have all the same face and dress ridiculously like wearing boots with swimsuit and have crazy haircuts). Then I didn't like how the townies were appearing after getting older so I also turn the aging off. I figure that would solve my problems, no moving, no seeing ugly sims and crazy outfits. But after a while I found this kind of boring I'd like the kids in my lot to have friends to grow up with. So right now I have enabled the aging and using cheats to style the townies and sometimes I switch to another household to make new couples and have babies. I was wondering how you're dealing with this issue in your game? Any suggestions other that cheating? I was looking to install some mods, cause I don't have any, but I'm not sure which one is right.

Hello,

Well, a couple of years ago I had the exact same grief as the one you're describing here, and then I found this mod.
At first, you will be overwhelmed with all the different options, but you don't really have to change anything about the settings. Just allow the mod to run and voila.

With it, your town will progress, and I mean really progress. Sims will meet, fall in love, get married, have kids, get divorced, and they even have affairs and accidental pregnancies.
But they will also work on their skills and get promoted.
You can decide to disallow immigration and emigration as well.

You will really feel like, when they grow old, they have had a life worth living, their family has expanded and they will have maintained friendships.

You only need the base mod, but I would recommend getting the "extra's" as well. And if your system can handle it... they have a whole range of interesting mods for the game Smile

Sounds exciting! This is how the game should have been. What about the clothes the townies wear? I use cheats to style them.

Hello again,

Well, it's easier to change the townies if you use the mod MasterController from those same developers, because you have the option to edit each individual in CAS from within the game. StoryPorgression itself doesn't do anything in that regard, but those 2 mods work flawlessly together and there's no real reason not to use both Very Happy
Unless your system can't handle it, but that seems unlikely.

Mastercontroller is your solution. A swiss knife for the sims 3, adding tons of options. When i play ts3 i use this one all the time. You can change the sims outfits, change specific roles, bring a sim back from moving out of town, clean items that got stuck, clean dead sims and many more. And you can expand it with many modules. That is also the power of MC.
I often play Bridgeport, since that one has become more or less my favourite neighbourhood, and one of the things i do is change the sims appearance. And since i use Register i sometimes also change someones role (bouncer, papparazzi, vendor, mixologist) Register also prevents that townies are used for roles such as bouncer.
I have turned story progression on myself, as i find it the best feature of ts3. It adds a dynamic gameplay and you really have the feeling that the neighbourhood lives. But that's my point of view. However, it does have a downside that also sims are gonna move outside of town while you don't want that. When i play Bridgeport it is always Caroline Custard and Polly Maloney who move out of the neighbourhood. Luckily i can get them back with master controller, but i have to get them their jobs back as well.

By the way; Master Controller, as well as most modules, were made by Twallan, which was one person.

You can prevent them from moving out at all with StoryProgression though, and that one manages the town's progression much better than EA's story progression does.

Hello
When i started this topic I had in mind to move my sims to a new town when I wanted to start a family. And I had just moved to Hidden Springs a couple of days. I installed the Story Progression, it does it's job the sims are learning skills, getting jobs they are all living as active. I'll try the MasterController too in order not use the cheats. For my game I would like things to move slower and i haven't yet found a way yet to congigure that in the mod. Like I'd like to see more the interactions between the locals and just watch them be, living in the world. The Story progression works kind of fast into moving on their stories. Like there was this sim who would be perfect for mine to be her boyfriend and he was in a steady relationship so i made them friends and ask him to break up with the other woman. He did and because it was late and left for his house the next morning he had again a steady relationship with an other woman. My sim had to make two enemies in order to get that man. As about ea's story progression I hate mostly the ugly sims it adds unfortunately i still see them. So far for me the best way to play is when I had the aging and the story progression off, the sims I design have interesting personalities and stories and have all the time to meet the town and their neighbours.

You can disallow pretty much everything for individual sims by clicking on them, and going to the Nraas> Storyprogression menu.
