Sims 3 generations download can't open the Sims3EP04Setup.exe file

I downloaded the sims 3 generations, went through every step.
Opened the installation guide wich tells me to open the Sims3EP04Setup.exe file.
I tried, but I just keep getting these symbols, in each program I open the file.

Could someone tell me how to install te game or send me the file in an other way?

Please open the .rar file you downloaded using only WinRar, which can be downloaded from www.games4theworld.org . (If you use any other software than WinRar, like WinZip or 7-zip, the files will get messed up!)
When you've opened the file using WinRar, select áll the files in it and drag & drop them to a folder on your Desktop. When the extraction is done, close the .rar file and open the folder on your Desktop.
Now, start by reading the included "# Installation Guide.txt" and you should be able to get the game to work yourself. Good luck!

I already did al these things. But I can't make the first step of the Installation Guide.txt. Because I am not able to open:

You say something about "these symbols"? What do you mean?
Please post a screenshot of the error you get, when trying to open the .exe file.

I do have a macbook.. Maybe this is the source of the problem?
But when I open a Exe file I get this sort of symbols:

Hmmm... I guess you didn't see there was a "Mac" -section for Mac problems?

The reason why you see those symbols is because Mac doesn't know how to open .exe files. You must create a disk image from folder, using the Disk Utility program included with the Mac software suite. The Sims 3 programs have dual compatibility with the Mac and Windows platforms.

Can you also list out what you are doing in order so that I can point you in the right direction?

You can create a disk image by using Mac's Disk Utility program.
